Loved this book when I was a kid.

When Booker stayed with me a couple of weeks ago we saw a trailer for this. I asked him if he was interested in seeing it and he said not really. I bet you (Cath) especially liked and understood it being the Mom of a boy about the same age. It sure made me reflect on my life growing up.
Really cute story, awesome visuals, fun to watch, and Cath is right, it is full of things only adults would understand about growing up. Good movie. Glad it was made. And I'm glad it still had the style and feel of the old book.Matt Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13738047059423190096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6574902894146998478.post-61034664922966617282009-10-21T22:54:01.305-06:002009-10-21T22:54:01.305-06:00I figured it would be really good- riding on the c...I figured it would be really good- riding on the credit of being directed by Spike Jonze alone. He has a near flawless track record as far as I'm concerned. They sure nailed the look of the wild things too. She read this to us a few times and I thought of her everytime I read it to my kids (which was a lot). I'll have to see it.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15240493105008078007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6574902894146998478.post-24865611062346675572009-10-20T15:42:30.380-06:002009-10-20T15:42:30.380-06:00This movie is in Riverton now. I know more about it now that all the buzz has built on this and think I will see it. I'll give my thoughts here when I do. Thanks, Cat!

Glad you like Our House, Matt. I've always been intrigued by the phrasing of the two main verses and simply like it as a song that is purely "in the moment"--his simply dissolving into simple things that give him pleasure about his relationship and their house and "cozy room."Dan Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13158682872252632688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6574902894146998478.post-69430323527902114332009-10-19T17:10:53.189-06:002009-10-19T17:10:53.189-06:00Wow, thanks for that review Cath. I have been fascinated by it though, and am looking forward to seeing it after reading your review. I respect your opinion a lot. I LOVED this book when I was a kid.

And I must give a shout out to the Arcade Fire song that is in the preview for this movie. That is a BIG PLUS for me. :) The song that's in it is the one that David Bowie heard, and liked it so much he sang it with them for a few performances. It's called "Wake Up". CHECK IT OUT ON AN MP3 PLAYER NEAR YOU!!!

Oh and Dan: That Crosby song "our house" is one that me and my friends voted "hardest to get out of your head" Good classic pick.Matt Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13738047059423190096noreply@blogger.com
