RIP John Hughes

Thought I ought to give him a little nod on our blog. As many of us are children/teenagers of the 80's, we have all enjoyed his movies (his credits include being the writer, producer and director of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles- that alone should get him a nod from all of us). In addition, he was responsible for: Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's, Some Kind of Wonderful, The Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck, Sixteen Candles, the list is long. He had a definite gift for speaking to teenagers, and many many of them ate his movies up.

He died yesterday at the age of 59 of a heart attack, while out walking the streets of Manhattan. Which leads me to wonder, Phisters, did you witness this by chance?

We're not there yet. We arrive tomorrow afternoon. Too bad about his death. He sure made an impact on all of us. 59 is way too young!

Uncle Buck is the best. Not the best of his movies, just the best as in I love that movie. Didn't Hughes have something to do with the Home Alone Movies also. He was a good film maker and writer. Yeah, Amy, 59 is way too young.

He did so many great movies. At least 2 of them have been SWS movies! I love Pretty in Pink and the Breakfast Club too. I was the perfect age when those movies came out. I think he at least wrote Home Alone, he may have directed it too.

Mom has always thought I was sort of wierd because I watched often on cable Somekind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club and other Hughes movies. I am kinda weird but not because of that....I just like his movies. Good stuff. Rip!

Those are genuinely good movies dad, not weird at all. Weird is the old man at our country club that turns the tv on in the men's card room and turns it to the Disney teen movie channel and watches little tween cheer leading movies. But maybe that's just creepy.

He definitely will be missed. I enjoyed all his movies! My generation! Yeah!

Hahaha, Emily, Old man watching Disney teenie boppers on tv in the mens room. Yeah, that Just Creepy and a little sick. I'm not in that catagory yet. Mom and I and Matt & B watched "The Jazz Singer" at the Phisters tonight. Saw the "kittens". "America" and "Love on the Rocks" needs to be on someones playlist. Go Neil!!

I've got Neil on my playlist, but I don't think my playlist will ever get played. You guys are all too good at guessing the movies. Maybe I'll pick some obscure Fellini movie that no one will get.

Hey, speaking of Neil. I read today that he has a DVD of a filmed concert in N.Y. coming to Walmart (phooy on Walmart) on Friday and a TV special on ABC also on Friday night. Go Neil!
