The Watcher in the Woods! I knew this would be a tough one, but I thought more people would get it. Especially how it's become a classic at the Phister house. I thought of this movie because when Booker was here we were laughing about how Matt scared us while we were watching this movie. I kind of gave it away with the last quote. Anyway, Amy got it first! Way to go Amy! You haven't won in a while, and I don't think you've won since we started the playlist thing, so looking forward to hearing some Amy tunes. Cat got it next and that was it. Haley thought maybe it was Ghostbusters.
Here is this week's movie quote. I'm going to let this one go until next Sunday, since it is already Wednesday:
Just remember, there are many more important things in the world. Many, many more important things. I can't think of what they are, but I'm sure they're out there.

Woo hoo, Moses! Congrats!
I have never seen Watcher in the Woods. A good one, eh? Disney did a horror flick? Anyway, another one to add to my Netflix queue.
Wow! I'm so surprised I won. Yay. I was so late in getting a guess in, I think it took me all three clues. I thought for sure you guys had already beat me. I think we need to explain to the Wotherspoons a little of our history with this movie. This is not a classic in the standard way. It is one of the lamest movies with terrible acting, and we mostly make fun of it. However, there are some creepy moments involving Betty Davis. It came up once while everyone was here and brought back memories for mostly Matt, and the girls. (Ironically, I hand't really seen it, and my only memories of it were of my little brother and sisters watching it--and I still won--that's why I'm a little shocked). Anyway, they were telling Booker and Kyle about it, so we watched it. The best were the alternate endings! They were so bad. Well, enjoy my playlist, I don't even remember what I picked, so I'll be surprised, too! Thanks for coming back, Sue. We missed you!
Dan, I swear I watched this for the first time when you were living with us. It really scared the crap out of me when I was 7.
I have never seen it. You know how I am with scary movies, even when they are lame and not that scary. I don't watch them...EVER. Good job mom!
Way to go Aim! I totally didn't get this, but here is the deal- somehow I missed that last hint and never saw it I have to believe that if I had, I would have gotten it. Had I seen that last hint quote, I would not have done my rather snarky post "dear Sue". I wrote that since we heard from her here and there but I never heard her acknowledge SWS. Jokes on me I guess.
Dan, maybe not worth netflixing, but maybe worth a little exposition on Thanksgiving where we can show you the alternate endings. We talked about them a little while ago and I would love to see them again. They are unbelievable.
Love your song list Amy- good times. She included a little story along with "Sometimes When We Touch"- she and Lynette used to call each other when it was on the radio- I suppose so they wouldn't miss it. Good grief guys- break down and buy the 45 already! Haha! Just kidding that was fairly common back then- hard to relate to these days with the internet and itunes ect. I just wanted to give a little nod to those 45's I remember from that era and trying to find the little plastic disc thing that went in the middle so your record player could play it. Instead of buying the record, apparently, Amy and Lynette bought the sheet music so they could play it. While we are on the subject of that song- what movie or something is that song featured where they sing it? For some reason I'm thinking muppets. What am I thinking of????!!!! It's driving me bats.
I also have to include a story of my own involving I am I said. Now Rob's ipod shuffle is so funny and cute. He wears it while he works, it's funny and cute because it is such a mixed bag of songs and artists. It drifts from classic jazz stuff to Amy Winehouse to Radiohead to Mo tab to rap/hip hop to yes a little Neil. Anyway I get a kick out of it, especially when he comes to me with it to play me a radiohead song he just discovered that he really likes and to find out which one it is. 9 times out of 10 it is from OK Computer, he must be a closet fan of the album. Anyway, out of the blue one day he came into our room singing I Am I Said. It was just funny and unexpected. He then told me that it was on his ipod and I laughed. I love to picture him working listening to his little eclectic playlist. He also decided that the lyrics were pretty bad if I remember correctly. I think they are endearingly Neil.
I like "I am I Said" vocally, but some of the lyrics are just so bad. That part about the frog becoming a prince just kills me, it's so bad. But I still love you, Neil. No worries.
That is what got Rob too.
Wow, can't remember ever seeing it, Cat. But maybe so bad I blocked it out? I'd love to hear/see more about it and the bad endings during our Thanksgiving fun...
About Mose's song list, I have a strong memory of Sometimes When We Touch during my Mapleton days, always associating it with a girl from the Seventh Ward I dated a bit, Amy Gividend (is that her last name? seems like her dad may have been in the stake presidency). Anyway, that song about someone with confused feelings--really liking someone and having some great, intense moments but not wanting to fully get sucked into a relationship with them (or changing ones current relationship)--always makes me think of her for some reason. Not at all sure why, as I've hung with other girls that drove me crazy just as much as she did. Funny how stuff works.
I like (or kind of like) the other songs, too. Nice job, Mose!
Let's hear it for cheesy song lyrics! We love you Neil. I have a very eclectic ipod playlist myself. I scrubbed our BBQ grill from top to bottom yesterday listening to Bon Jovi for awhile. Then I put it on shuffle and 3 Neil Diamond songs played in the first 4 songs! Weird huh? Dan, it was Gividen without the "d" and yes her dad was in the Stake Presidency. Incidently, her dad died a few years ago of a heart attack. Her mom was in the waiting room waiting for news about him and when they came out & told her that they couldn't save him, she tilted her head back and died right then! Some people really do die from a broken heart. I think it's a pretty neat story. They were neat people. Sorry Amy gave you so much grief!
Bon Jovi!!???!! Ha ha!
Ditto!
Yeah Bon Jovi is pretty random mom...hee hee.
I know, and I know you don't like him, Haley, but I like a couple of his songs :)
I forgot to mention that Matt got the movie Wright too. He sent me a text. Sorry Rarns, it's harder for me to keep track of the text guesses than the email ones.
I almost put in the posting that I was looking forward to some Amy tunes, UNLESS, Sometimes When We Touch was on the list! But, I didn't think you'd put it on there! haha!
Bon Jovi? yuck. My friends love him, and whenever I protest they have to remind me that he is married to his high school sweetheart blah blah blah. I don't care! That doesn't make me like his music! I mean, good for him, that is rare, but doesn't change the sound of his music.
That is funny that that's their argument on why you should like his music. You should answer back: ah yes, but you like Tesla- therefore I am unable to listen to your arguments.
I know, it is funny that that is the argument they make on why I should like his music. When they/she brings it up I ask her if that is why she likes his music, and she says "no, I just like his music", so then I say "so why should that be a reason for me to like his music?". I don't think she grasps it, but it makes perfect sense to me.
I don't even dare approach the Tesla thing, they are sacred to her.
I had to put Sometimes When We Touch on there! Funny thing is though, not only did I never buy the 45 or the album, I STILL have never bought it nor downloaded it. I don't know why. I just get funny memories when it comes on the radio. Oh, and Steve is the one who gave me the sheet music for it cause he knew I liked the song. Pretty nice guy.
Thanks for the shout out Sue. I wondered about that. I thought I had put in a guess. I will facebook my guesses to you from now on if it's easier. I should have got it with the overlapping circles quote. I knew it was a movie from my childhood, but couldn't place it.
Man, I loved those dark movies! My favorite movies as a kid were:
Return to Oz
Beetlejuice
Labyrinth
Dark Crystal
Watcher in the Woods
Never Ending Story
Ghostbusters
Return of the Jedi (didn't like to other star wars)
PeeWees Big Adventure (very dark Tim Burton parts)
Edward Scissorhands
I even LOVED Harold and Maude!!
Was that just a big trend in the mid 80's? Or was I just seeking them out? Well, I guess Harold and Maude was made in the 70's. And I think Scissorhands was early 90's. Anyway, I don't know what that is supposed to tell me as an adult! I do know I LOVE halloween though!
Harold and Maude, hahaha what a wierd movie. I kinda liked it too. Jaws I still like, but action movies are still the best.. Dirty Harry types and T-2 types.
Good playlist, Ams. The Boxer and I am, I said are the best! Ever! go neil. What or who the bip is Tesla?
I'd sure love another hint for this week's flick! The first sounds so familiar but I've been blanking big time....
I am finally weighing in. I have been busy with Dana. I helped her leave her husband with her two babies and I got her off today to Michigan to live with her dad. Anyway! I absolutely love Sometimes when we touch:) Yeah Amy! And yes Neil rocks and Bon Jovi. Must be our age. LOL. I remember watching this movie and Bette Davis. I watched it at a mutual Halloween party. I liked it and didn't think it was very creepy at all. A bit cheesy in my opinion. Good memories!
Yes, very cheesy, for sure! Sorry about Dana. I hope things get better for her. Glad you were able to help her.
Here is another quote for you guys to chew on:
I've just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we've learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the slightest.
It is on the tip of my tongue. UGH! I know I will think of it. My 40 something brain is too full. LOL!
Here is another quote:
But, hurry please! We have so much time and so little to see. Wait a minute! Strike that... Reverse it! Thank you.
I know this one! How do I Make a guess????
Send me a message on Facebook or you can just email it to me at camandsue2004@yahoo.com
