Top 5 things that give me the chills

5. The squeaky sound (and feeling) of wet shoes on thin car carpet.

4. Touching pottery or other rough things like maybe cinder blocks after my hands are all raisiny from being wet for a long time.

3. Finger nails on car paint. I think it is worse on older cars that have spots of rust on them.

2. The soap scum build up on drinking glasses. If I so much as think about the feeling of my fingernails touching that, I have to bundle up and get in front of a heater.  (I just zipped up my hoodie)

1. This one is a little hard to explain, but it's bad. When your eating an apple, I swear the juice does something weird to your lips... It's like even though they are wet, they feel dry when your lips touch something! Do you know that feeling? If your lip touches your teeth, tongue, or other lip it feels so gross! It gives me the chills so bad that I even think twice about eating an apple, or I just eat it like a gorilla with my lips all puckered so they stay out of the way.

If your going to do one of your own, I suggest getting somewhere warm! This post sucked to do! I shuddered so much I almost got whip-lash!

Apple juice doing something to your lips??? ha,ha,ha, Matt: What a wauss! Nice pictures though! I can't think of anything that gives me the chills. Course I am a bada... former Marine and we bulls wobble, but we don't fall down. Chills....phooey!!!!

I seriously just read that like 3 times and have no idea what you are trying to say.

Man are we brother and sister! I so agree with you on the car paint thing! The fingernail on car paint is probably the very worst thing that gives me the chills. And I know EXACTLY what you are talking about with the apples! It's almost like your lips feel numb, but they're not numb. It is hard to explain. Apple juice and apple sauce don't do it, but plain old apples do.

I don't know about the soap scum on glasses, I don't know if I've come across a lot of glasses with soap scum on them.

A couple of things I will add are:

Folding paper towels, especially when they are wet, and especially Viva brand.

Scrubbing my bathtub or kitchen sink with Comet, or Ajax or any of those bleach cleaners. Soft Soap kind of helps, but not much. It is pure torture to me to scrub my tub and kitchen sink! Even with gloves on.

When people scrape their fork on a dinner plate.

My last comment was about Grandpa's comment. The last part of it I can't decipher. My chills are: # 1 worst is the top interior fabric in a car. If you rub it with your hands, oh my it just makes me cringe. Dry paper towels get me and also folding construction paper is so bad.

Yes Haley! Construction paper too! I forgot about that. And I couldn't decipher pop's comments either.

Haha! I just had Dads comment deciphered for me. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down. Dad's so cute.

Forks across plates, all forms of chalkboards, fingernails on license plates (car paint does it too, but license plates are way worse!), and getting sand or egg shells in a food of food. Those all gave me the chills way bad. And the Phister's gray bowls. CanNOT eat out of them without shivering.

I think I can translate dad's comment for you all:
Calls Matt a wuss, then decides that Marines are "bad-as*" and the mere thought of them getting chills is laughable. "We bulls" has got to be weebles, and he is implying that Marines and Weebles have the same creed.

For me, none of the things listed bother me in the slightest. But, rubbing the tip of my fingernail down a serrated butter knife gets me, as does the thought of biting -and especially ripping- fabric (any kind) with my molars.

Oh, two more things. Matt did not mean soap scum on glasses, he means mineral deposits. I get them at the bottom of my glasses because of the indented golf ball on them, which make excellent water collectors. He made a remark about them while at my place this week, so I know what inspired this little post.

Also, Scout really liked the "talking apple" picture, and I have NO IDEA what you are talking about with the apple juice, but had a funny mental image of you eating apples with your lips like a gorilla.

I think I deciphered Dad's comments too. The we bulls wabble but they don't fall down have to refer to a toy when I was a kid. Those egg shaped weebles (sp?) I remember I had a pirate ship of them when I was a kid. I think dad was trying to say he is all tough and nothing gets to him and Matt is a big wimp because apples bug him!

Em, it's not apple juice, it's apples themselves. I totally know what Matt is talking about. Maybe it has to do with apple skin or something. Maybe Matt and I have some weird chemical in our mouths that react to it that you don't, but I totally relate to him on the apple thing.

Mineral deposits on glasses? I still don't know what you're referring to. That sounds really gross!

Matt Wright said...

yes, mineral deposits. Its a cloudy coating that you can find on some glasses. Some people just have them on all of their glasses and I cant stand it.
I know what B is talking about with the license plates, I have that too a little bit. I am amazed at all the car ones! The apple thing is the worst. And no, it doesn't happen with sauce or juice. That is crazy that they do that to you too Sue. None of you guys get the chills easier when you have raisin fingers??

B said...

Yeah, changing the tags on our license plates was the WORST! Makes me cringe even now. Do Phisters gray bowls bother not bother anyone else?

Emily said...

I know what bowls you are talking about and that they do have a definite texture, but they don't bother me one bit.
I think it is actually quite a pleasant sound and feeling.

Matt, rubbing my own fingertips together with raisin fingers bugs me a little, but I wouldn't call it chills.

Haley said...

Yeah, I love those bowls! They are stoneware. Does the top of cars bother anyone else, because that is my worst! And Matt, if pruny fingers and pottery bugs you, NEVER take a ceramics class. Especially when you are throwing on the wheel, your hands are constantly wet and pruny and then the clay is spinning really fast and you have to mold it with your hands. You would hate it!

Pops said...

Yeah! I'm tough and nothing like you describe bother me. However, I will admit that there has been times when the top of cars has cause me to twinge a little, but license plates? Come on Peeps. That is over the top of weird. Pruny fingers!! same! I can understand where barf in a stoneware bowl with mineral deposits and left-over spegetti would wipe out Cat, but she is special!

Sue said...

I don't get the pruny finger thing either! I guess I just haven't noticed. And the top of the car thing I've never noticed. But I do agree with B, changing the stickers on license plates is terrible. And I just don't know the grey bowls you are talking about. I'll check them out this weekend and see if they bug me. We should make some sort of game this weekend out giving each other the chills!

And dad, that stuff you put at the end of your last comment cracked me up! Cat will die when she reads it.

Hey guys, I'm back! It's taken me a week to recover from my 9 days absence. Has anyone noticed that I have a bottle of lotion at every sink in my entire house? Well, I get chills on almost everything if I don't have lotion on. The worst is paper. About every form of paper. I have to put lotion on before I read the newspaper. Folding construction paper is horrible, but I think the worst is thinking about kleenex in my mouth or chewing on cottonballs (shudder!) I agree with the mineral deposits on glasses. Get ready tomorrow, I'm using my Mexican glasses for dinner so you can all experience it! The apple thing is weird, don't have a problem with car fabric, but definitely with the exterior of cars and chalk. See you guys tomorrow!! We're excited.

B said...

Hehehe, dad and Em are funny. I don't get the pruny fingers thing Matt, but it just makes you cuter. Rereading my comments, I guess none of us noticed that I said "in a food of food" or "bother not bother". This pretty much summarizes my week. I cannot write a decimal number with zeros in it to save my life. i.E. 0.0035 become .35 hence the 61% on my Chemistry test, and my teachers note that says "Does this number make sense to you?"

Chemistry gives me the chills.

Sue said...

I noticed those things you wrote B, I just didn't say anything. I did find "in a food of food" quite funny.

Puppet show tonight!!!

Things that give Cat the chills:
1. The thought of napkins, paper towels or toilet paper between my front teeth. I can't even talk if I think about that.
2. Totally, Matt, fingernails scraping against hard water-stained glasses.
Comments: Matt, that lip-numbing thing with apples doesn't happen with me, but a variety of cucumber does. And the thought of you eating an apple like a gorilla just totally kills me! Reminds me of a great What About Bob quote: 'It makes my lips numb just thinking about it'.
Dad, barf doesn't give me chills, but something else entirely.

Cat said...

Holy crap! I just ate an apple and my lips went numb! I instantly thought of Matt's post. I should have gorilla'd it. I'd forgotten that part.
