Happy Birthday Matt!!!!

Happy Birthday Rarnee!!! What can I say Matt. I can't imagine our family without you. I remember the night mom and dad announced that mom was pregnant with you. I think we were all stunned to say the least. Dad said something like "I think there is one more up there that needs to join this family". Man was he wright! Thanks to Dad and B, and a couple suggestions from Catt, I have your birthday list!

Matt loves his video production equipment. His Mac Pro was specifically mentioned.

And his XL-2.

Matt loves to ride the X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Matt loves to skateboard! It is always fun to watch Matt skateboard and we all love the videos you make of skateboarding too. I use google images to find my pictures. I decided to search for "Matt Wright skateboarding". I thought maybe there were actual pictures of you your friends posted or something. Anyway on page 4 of the images there is Dad's Myspace profile pic! Then a couple over from that is the above picture which says it's from Matt Wright's myspace page. So this this you?

Matt is one of the funniest people I've ever met. He loves to make people laugh and he loves to laugh himself. Between him and Scott, my stomach hurts for a few days after weekends in Wyoming.

Matt loves the Office. I think it's pretty much the only TV show he really watches.

Matt loves The Pixies!

Matt loves documentaries. When I put documentaries into google images, some pretty abstract stuff came up. But a few pages in I found this cartoon which I thought was kind of funny.

He loves Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Bean ice cream! Hope you get some of that tonight!

Matt loves video production. Again some pretty abstract stuff came up in google images. But I found this pyramid which might be helpful to you, hee hee.

Matt loves to play Mario Cart!

He loves Blue Cheese dressing.

Matt loves the Elizabethan Report. He got to go back east with them and film them at a music festival. I chose this picture because it is of the member that Matt has a little man-crush on. Another weird thing happened when I googled The Elizabethan Report. On page 2 of the images there is a picture of Sarah and Kelly from that video Matt took of them lip-synching to that broken wing song.

Music has always been a big part of Matt's life. It started with Raffi, then he moved on to Weird Al Yankovich ( I'm pretty sure we are all relieved that phase is over). Now Matt likes a lot of different music. Rancid was mentioned by B.

And Operation Ivy.

Matt loves magic! Sorry for the lame picture, but it made me laugh. Matt is actually pretty good at magic tricks and I especially like his card tricks.

And finally, Matt loves to scare people! I believe he still apologizes to Haley and Sarah for scarring them so much when they were young.

Cat mentioned his favorite snack of Cream Cheese, Worcestershire sauce and Wheat Thins. Funny thing, there wasn't a picture of that on the internet! And Matt of course loves his family and friends. You can totally feel that love when you are around him. And Matt, I'm sure you know this, but your family and friends love you so much. You are one of my very favorite to be around. I've told you before, I'm so glad I'm your sister. I get to know you the rest of our lives whether you like it or not! Your Utah sisters miss you and talk about you all the time. We can't wait for you and B to move out here for the summer. I hope you are still planning on it.
Love you!!!! Kisses!!!!

Happy Birthday, son. You know how much I love you and dig your act. I knew that you were "up there" and needed a wacky family to join that would put up with your crazy ideas and acts of lunacy (sp). Glad Sue didn't mention Halo and other video games. You show a special kindness to people and are a generous soul. Giving to homeless when you yourself only may have a dollar. Never trying to hurt anyones feelings, you don't yell or be pushy. I love your laugh, smile, slim hips body style and nose. I mostly love your sweet spirit, good humor, perfection as to your video editing work, and love of the church, the Lord, and of life. Thanks for being in our Fam and bring joy to all who know you. Kisses, Dad

Hope to see you soon before the summer! Love you so much, little bro. Alkaline Trio will be at the Big Ass Show this year!

Search engines are crazy! When you click on Sarah and Kelly, it takes you to Matt's vimeo thingy where he has all seven of his videos.

Haha, another great post. Happy birthday Matt, hope it isn't dampened too much by your sad news, and I too hope you get some Haagen daz.

Charles Bradley died.

Sorry, hadn't heard. That's too bad.

Thanks everyone. That was really fun to read, almost made me cry! We are still planning on moving in with Em and Rob for the summer and cant wait! We are going to have a blast and probably not want to leave. Looking forward to many crazy nights with the neglected sisters. That skating picture is a picture of David Law, but it's not even on my Myspace page! How weird is that? Chuck Bradley died friday in his sleep due to some sort of overdose of sleeping pills. I have spent a lot of time on the phone the last couple days with old friends, it's interesting how something so sad can bring people together. B and I will be heading to Mapleton for the funeral probably Wednesday night. Funeral is Thursday, but still don't know when and where.
Love you guys. Thanks again!

I'm glad you like the posting Matt. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It would be great to see you guys while you are here, but totally understand if it doesn't happen.

Hey Cat, Kim Deal was on the March 28 episode of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. Just in case you wanted to download the podcast.

I just listened to it after RFH. Pretty good stuff. That reminds me of another reason she lives with her parents, the Pixies never made any money. She probably did OK with the Breeders, but that was a long time ago and only one hit record. She's probably broke.

Are you still staying with us Matt? If not, you HAVE to find a way to visit Scout-- she was sad to miss the Wyoming trip, but hearing she will get to see you guys this week cheered her greatly.

B said...

We will definitely be staying with you guys, possibly for 2 nights. There is a wake Thursday evening we might stay for. We will probably get there around midnight Wednesday, and the funeral is at around 1 on Thursday. We will spend as much time with Scoutums as we can!

What is a wake? So are you coming to Idaho on friday?

B said...

A wake I guess is an Irish mourning thing where it's totally focused on all the good things that happened in that person's life, and there's a big party. That's how Matt described it to me at least. And yes, we will come to Idaho on friday.

Sue said...

A wake is a gathering of friends and family of the deceased. I don't think it's just an Irish thing, I think the Irish just have more fun at them than anyone else.

Traditionally, the wake was at the dead person's house and the body was there and everyone would stay up all night watching the body. I believe wake pretty much means "watch".

It reminds me of last Saturday's This American Life. Did you listen to that one Cat? The Jewish kid who was paid to watch over the dead body until they were buried? Pretty funny.

Cat said...

Yeah, I love Shalom Auslander. I want to read his books.

Amy said...

Native Americans do wakes too. I read about them all the time in the paper. They still have them at the family's home.

Anyway Matt, Happy Birthday late! Love you so much. You are the best. Sorry we had to leave on your birthday. Safe travels and see you Friday!

Matt: I am glad you and B went to the funeral and went to the effort you did to make it happen (not the funeral, just getting there on that bad traveling day). Your example to your friends is a very good thing. Be careful going to Rexburg and then home to Wyoming.
