WTB AKA SWS

Woohooo! I won. I have always loved Young Frankenstien. Soo many good quotes. Mom's favorate: "hamper for poo poo undies" Anyway the scene with Gene Hackman as the blind guy has always been one of my favorites and that was where I got it. Love the Ab-normal brain bit too. Any way....here is the quote for this weeks movie. Reply to geowright@bresnan.net
Good luck! did any of you get the quick comment quote I made just for fun last week. The constable with the wooden arm throwing the darts???

quote: "Thank you for playing: Should we, or should we not follow the advice of the galactically STUPID?"

Young Frankenstein

I have to admit I picked this movie to mess with Haley a bit. After the comments of last week, I thought it would be fun to pick it and see if she'd get it. She did, but was not the first. First place goes to pops! Good job dad! He got it after giving me a wrong guess (Happy Gilmore), he retracted it after about a half hour or so and guessed wright. Next was Matt, then Amy, Haley and Dan. Look on the bright side Dan- you weren't second again.

Besides fun to mess with Haley, this is definitely a Wright Classic! I swear- going through all the quotes for this movie (and there were a lot listed!) every single one was a total gimmie. I had to try really hard to find some that were not instantly recognizable as coming from this movie. Then I had to use a favorite for Friday, but there were a lot to chose from ("give me a hand with these bags- I'll take the blond, you take the one with the turban" "Abby someone -Abby who?- Abby Normal" to name a few) . My favorites are the ones that come from Igor. I've quoted this movie A LOT through the years. Good times.

WTB

When I finally got this quote right, I was sure I was too late, so was very surprised to hear the news that I won! Matt would have at least gotten this one if he had heard the last quote, but he didn't get on the computer much this weekend. But I still would have beaten him- hee hee. Dan, second again- tough break.
Anyway, so I am going to change the music list some and here is this week's selection:

Wait! Where are you going? I was gonna make espresso.

What the Bip Movie is this?

This is Cat. I'm at Em's house to post the results of this week's contest. First of all, the movie in question was 'Little Miss Sunshine'. Em guessed incorrectly at first, but recanted and guessed Wright and she won! Sue guessed incorrectly (Super Troopers) and then Dan guessed Wright! Good job guys, it was kind of a hard one. I love this movie so much. I love at the end when the family joins Olive on stage and dances with her. It just makes me smile. Sorry no picture, and a lame post, but I've gotta go! So Em, it's to you.

500 Days of Summer

Watch this movie peeps! I watched it last night and loved it. I had heard a lot of good things about it and decided I should give it a try. You know me, I don't like romantic comedies, but this one is different. It is fun to watch because the story jumps all over the place. It basically tells the story of a relationship Joseph Gordon-Levitt has with a girl named Summer. It spans 500 days of their relationship and jumps from like day 40 to day 380, then back to day 8. But it is done very well and has a good flow, it doesn't feel choppy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is great. He is becoming one of my favorite young actors. He picks pretty interesting films, a lot of independent stuff. If you haven't seen The Lookout or Brick, you should check them out. Yeah, he was Cobra in GI Joe, but he probably needs a big paycheck once in a while, so he can continue doing lower budget stuff. So, I'll forgive him. Zooey Deschanel plays Summer. I like her too, she is the girl in Elf, what was her name in that? Doby? Anyway, it's a good movie, has a good sound track, well directed and well acted. And, it's not a totally gooey and unbelievable plot like "I heard this guy on the radio and I'm going to meet him on Valentines Day at the Empire State Building" kind of crap. Sorry, no offense, I just find those kind of movies boring.

Oh yeah, it's PG-13, so it's safe for everyone.

Books

I have a few things to bring up on the subject of books:

1. First and foremost, I haven't had any lists sent in for the KWAW Book List. I actually haven't started my list either, so no throwing stones here. I want to know if you guys would like more time (is this not a good time of year for this? Should we push the deadline through Feb?) Let me know your thoughts....

2. (while we're on the subject of books) I would like to report that I am half way through The Return of the King, so the Fro Baggs have the end in sight! Sue, you mentioned some Harry Pot Pot reviews coming "soon" quite a while ago and I know you got super busy after that. Just know that I for one am still looking forward to that report.

3. CHROLS-- Dan, did Eclipse get tossed in disgust to collect dust somewhere never to be heard from again? Or just taking a sanity break and reading something that actually makes sense to you? Ben and Matt, I am afraid to even ask where you are in your little challenge....

4. Lastly, I couldn't find where we discussed The Lost Symbol (the new google search was no help, so it must be in the comments somewhere or even facebook). Anyway, I read it and liked it for the most part, but decided that I don't care for Dan Brown's writing style, it got on my nerves with this book, but I still enjoyed the book and the subject matter was interesting. While I'm at it, Dad, I am halfway through the 2nd chapter in South of Broad (I am reading 3 books simultaneously- a habit I do a lot- and it is getting squeezed in the mix- enjoying it so far).

What the Bip Movie is This?

Em, we have not played 'Jazz Singer' in way too long! I'm so happy I won, but by such a narrow margin, Dan. Jeez. I hope I'm doing this Wright. Here is this week's quote:
Person#1: Is he like this all the time?
Person #2: ..............
Person #1: How can you stand it?

MEET....................

...........OWEN!!!
Yeah, that's right, our cute little puppy is named after one of our favorite character's in a movie. Most people, if they knew, would think us quite crazy, but I'm sure you all understand, knowing how endearing this character has become to this family over the years. Owen, is a little sweetheart. He's so cute, we just have to keep looking at him to make sure he's really that cute! And he really is! He's pretty laid back, but is starting to show some signs of being a normal, healthy, active, (sometimes annoying) puppy. Our first night together had it's bad moments, especially for B. I went to bed at one, he balled for a while, I got up at three and he went to the bathroom, seemed sleepy and didn't protest going back in his crate. I got up at six and he went again. Then, I found a note from B. They had quite the bonding experience at 3:45. He apparently was freaking out. She let him out and noticed that he had pooped in his kennel. She had to clean it all up, wash his blanket, etc. I'm so sorry, B!! I think he was under a lot of stress; leaving his mommy, his litter-mates, met a new family, drove in a car for about 11 hours in one day. Poor little guy. I'm sure he will adjust and we will all sleep a little better soon! We love him so much!

Kyle and I took Owen to a park right after we got him and let him run around and play with us.

He's got a really cute profile!

He looks like a little fuzzy black bear.

He's really black! A little hard to photograph black dogs, but they turned out pretty good.

WTB Movie is this?

I thought we would start WTB off with a bang AKA a little Neil. It's The Jazz Singer. This movie has a place in my heart for a few reasons. The first is, I remember Cath and I playing "Jazz Singer" while other kids were playing "house" when we lived in our first house in Mapleton (that would place me at 3 or 4). I remember acting it out and taking turns being Molly and Jess. My other fond memory of this movie happened only a year or two ago when we watched this together at The Phister's. I don't know when I have had more fun watching a movie in my life. (A few views of P's T's and A's have come close). I think everyone would concur that the highlight of that night was when Neil had his shirt off and Scott goes, "please tell me he is holding kittens". I believe later that weekend, he drew us a picture of Neil with kittens scrabbling to get out of his shirt. Anyway from there on, Neil's "kittens" have been a much abused source of entertainment for the Wright gang. Good times!

I think that it is only fitting (and not surprising) that Cat won! Good job Cat, it's been a while. Dan came second, and Dan you expressed assurance that you weren't the first, but I've got news for you, Cat only beat you by 14 minutes! They were followed by Amy, B, Matt, then Sue. That's it! Matt is the only one that hazarded a guess with the first quote and he guessed "Reservoir Dogs", Dan and Cat got it immediately with the second quote and B guessed The Money Pit, and Haley guessed Young Frankenstein. Amy got it with the second quote, but a little late, then Matt and Sue and B got it finally with the Friday hint.

That was fun (but Sue I salute you again for doing that for over a year! This way is much better, one person won't get burned out.)

So Cat, the ball's in your court!

Had to add this pic, I love it with cute little old Laurence Olivier.

Changes

Well, this must be the year to join the idiot club! We, too, are getting a puppy. We have talked about this for a long time. Milo is living on borrowed time. He is 12 1/2 years old and though, we can't bear the thought of losing our incredible loving and faithful friend, we know that it will happen in the near future. He still seems to be in good health and we hope he can still enjoy a good quality of life for sometime. We wanted to get another dog to give him a little company in his old age and to help us when the time does come. We are getting a Male Newfoundland on Saturday from Great Falls Montana. (MoosePeakNewfoundlands.com if you want to check the parents and litter out.) We are meeting them in Billings, MT. I have always loved Newfoundlands and have wanted one since I was a kid. They are beautiful, huge, sweet, gentle dogs. The more I read about them and look at pictures, the more in love I am with that breed. I'm so excited! We are even planning on having him be an inside dog (I KNOW!! WHAT?) We have learned from other owners that Newfies are miserable if they are not WITH their loved ones. They become destructive outside. They are very obedient and easy to train, but I'm aware that it will require a lot more of my time and attention to do it right and keep our house clean and hairless! Anyway, here are some pictures I uploaded from the breeder's website and I will post more pictures after we get him. We will also reveal the name we think we have decided on!!! We think you will love it! Here is our new baby! (His name is Pumpkin on the website, I know-lame). They were born on November 20. They will be 8 weeks on Friday.

Our puppy at 6 weeks.

5 weeks
Another exciting change in our home is that, as most of you know, Alex moved in on Saturday! We are really enjoying having him here. We have laughed so much and the best is getting Alex to laugh almost like you, Dan! It just gets us all laughing even harder. He has been so great. I mean that, Dan. He has been a perfect gentleman; very polite and helpful. Yesterday we drove around showing him the town and picking up job applications. Most places don't seem to be hiring right now, but we found a couple of possibilities. He is taking the Compass test and registering for classes today. Fun times in the Phister home!

Sunday's With Sue!! Finally! Or, is it Finale?

Christmas Vacation! A movie, that for some reason, I hadn't seen until Cam's mom gave it to me a few years ago when she noticed I didn't own any Christmas movies except Elf. I don't know how or why I had missed this one. I guess I'm really not into a lot of Christmas movies. For example, I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life either. Please don't jump down my throat for that, just let it be.

And no, I didn't forget, I've just been uber busy. And as Dan guessed when he emailed me a week ago, a little burned out on Sunday's With Sue. I really haven't been on the computer much at all in the last couple of weeks. I signed up for a bunch of overtime the week between Christmas and New Years, so the thought of coming home and looking at a computer was out of the question. And, as most of you know by now, Dave moved in with me and Cam on New Years Day! It is very nice having him here. It's been pretty busy around here since Dave got here. I've been working a lot and we've been busy trying to get the house situated so Dave has his own space and feels comfortable. I think we are getting there. Now I just need to take down all the Christmas stuff so I can have my living room back. I have today off, so I finally have some time to do some much needed things around the house and do the SWS post.

Anyway, enough about me! As I mentioned above, I have gotten a little burned out doing Sunday's With Sue. I've been doing it for over a year, and it's kind of lost it's fun on me. But, don't worry, I've been thinking about it, and I think I came up with a fun way we can keep it going. I've gotten Em's and Dan's approval, and I think the rest of you will like the new way. Here is what I propose:

The current week's winner, which in this case is Em of course, will post the next movie quote. Then the winner of that one, will do the next one, and so on. That way someone like Emily can't dominate the winnings and I can play along too. I think this is a nice way of giving everyone a fair shot, and it will probably bring up movies that I would never think of. We could even expand the game more so if someone would like to do a trivia question instead of a quote they can. What do you guys think? I like the idea, and Em and Dan like it, so I'm taking charge and saying this is how we are going to do it moving forward.

I use google images for the movie pictures. Just go to google, click on images, and type in the movie title. It's as easy as that. And here is the link I use for the quotes. http://moviequotes.com Just click on "quote bank" and it brings up a box with the letters of the alphabet and you click on the first letter of the movie's title. Sometimes when the movie starts with "The" it is under "T", but sometimes it's under the first letter of the next word. Christmas Vacation was actually under "N" for National Lampoon's, so you sometimes have to figure out how they have the movie titled. But, I have found this site to be the one with the most movies listed. IMDB also has quotes, and I've used it a couple of times, so does Wikipedia.

I think we should name it something new too. I think it would be silly to keep calling it Sunday's With Sue. Anyone have ideas for a new name? It could be the Wright Movie Game, or the Wright's Super Happy Fun Movie Game, or whatever. If you think of a name, put it in the comments and we will all discuss.

As I said Em was first to guess Christmas Vacation. When I went into my email folder where I file all the SWS guesses, the emails in there were from the last SWS. Oops! I guess I really wasn't into it! I do know that Em guessed first and I remember B and Dan guessed. If anyone else did, sorry I forgot.

So Em, take the reigns!
