Sunday's With Sue 9/28/9

Sorry I didn't get to this yesterday, but yesterday was the end of one of the craziest weeks I've ever had! I think last week was crazy for all of us! Elinor was born, Dave was here, Grandpa fell, Cat is moving....man, it's been quite a week for all of us Wrights! Cam woke up early Saturday morning and picked about 100 pounds of more stuff from the garden that needed to be canned, so we did that all day, then I had Bunko that night. Then I had to be to work at 6:45 Sunday morning, when I got home, there was more canning to do. When Cam went to bed at about 8pm Sunday night, I followed him and fell right to sleep. I usually do Sunday's With Sue after Cam goes to bed, but last night, the bed was just calling for me.

Enough about me, here is this week's movie quote:

Heats will never be made practical until they can be made unbreakable.

Moving!

Hey everybody! As most of you probably already know, I've been planning on moving back to Utah. Well, now the situation has changed. I'm still moving but instead of November like I was planning on, I'm leaving on Thursday! It's a long story. anyway, just letting all of you know what's happening and I"m actually excited about it! It's just sooner than I expected. I have found a nice place in Cedar Hills and I'm still in the process of finding a job. I'm just sending this out there and requesting any assistance from the family. Since I was planning on doing this in November I haven't been able to save as much money as I wanted to. I can handle the moving expenses, but I might not have much left when I get there. Including the first months rent I will need. If any of you guys can offer any assistance with this it would be greatly appreciated.

I really do plan on being more and more active on the blog. Things have just been pretty hectic around here.

Now that I' will be living close by, I'm looking forward to seeing you all more often. I better go, I still have a lot of packing to do! Fun fun fun!!!!

Grandpa Chatterton

Mother got a call from MaryAnn yesterday. Don lost his balance walking in a parking lot in Medford, fell and smacked his head and broke his hip in two places. He is in a hospital in Medford awaiting an operation to pin and repair his hip. He, of course, is in a lot of pain and is medicated for that. I am sure we all wish him a speedy recovery and wish the best for MaryAnn.

Sunday's With Sue 9/20/9

Shawshank Redemption! Great movie. I get sucked in pretty much every time it's on cable. So, Em got it first! Yay Em! New baby and you won Sunday's With Sue! Dan was next. Dan was actually watching this movie and heard the easy peasy japanesey quote, but Em beat his guess by about 20 minutes! Dad was next, then Matt!

Sorry I didn't do the post until now, but I've been busy. Busy doing what you ask? Busy hanging out with Dave! Yeah, that's right, hanging with Dave. The truck driving school didn't work out, so Dave called me and I picked him up and he's been staying with me the last few days. We went to Cat and Travis', so Dave could hang with them and see Booker. Then today, we went down to Em's and surprised Mom! It was great, the look on Mom's face was priceless. She at first thought I had Cam with me, then she realized it was Dave! Here are a couple of pictures.

Scout took an instant liking to Uncle Dave. And yes, Dave shaved his head last Friday. He looks great! Mom said it was the best day of her life and I really think it was. Dave is heading back to Reno tonight, he is taking the Amtrak back, it leaves around 11:30pm. RandR Donnelly is hiring a couple of pressman in Reno, Dave used to work for them, so he sent them his resume yesterday. He is kind of anxious to get back so he can interview and hopefully start working soon. He is still thinking about getting his CDL, but will probably do that on his own. So yay! We got the reunion we wanted, too bad he can't stick around a couple days longer and see Amy and Matt when they come down. But, I have a feeling we will be seeing more of Dave. He checked out the blog and wants to join.

I'm just going to wait until this Sunday to do a new movie quote, so just sit tight peeps.

I have a confession to make.........

I talked to Dave yesterday!

The lady at England Trucking called me yesterday morning while I was working, so I called her back on my lunch break. She asked me the same questions she asked Dad and Cat. And then I told her that the number I had for Dave was disconnected and our sister Emily, was having a baby any time now, and I asked her if she could give me the number that Dave gave her so I could tell him. And she said yes!

I wrote down the number and stared at it for a couple of minutes, kind of nervous, going back and forth in my mind on whether I should dial it or not. Then I thought, "F it, he's my brother." So I dialed it, and he answered! He seemed pretty happy to hear from me. One of the very first things out of his mouth was "sorry it's been so long." I told him not to worry about it, it was just good to hear his voice.

We talked for about 10 minutes, here is the run down. Dave actually quit his job last summer. Working the long 10 and 12 hour shifts on his feet over the years, gave him serious knee problems. He had both knees operated on at the same time, and quit his job. I asked if he had been getting disability or something and he said no, he had saved up money over the years and was living off his savings. He said the recovery was long and painful, but he is doing much better. I asked him if he was in a wheelchair during the recovery, he laughed and said no, he was on crutches. You have no idea how good it was to hear the Dave laugh.

He is feeling good enough to start working again, but he has to get out of the printing business. He needs a job where he is not on his feet all the time, so he decided trucking might be good. So, he is going for a driver job. And, he is coming to Salt Lake this weekend. He is going to a trucker school up here for a few weeks. I immediately offered my guest room, but he has already paid for a dorm room they provide. He said he could maybe stay with me on the weekends. He has a few weeks of classroom stuff, then he goes on the road for about a month with another driver. I asked him to please call me when he is in Salt Lake. Dave doesn't have a cell phone, only a land line, so the ball is in his court to call me. I am so hoping he calls me while he is here, and at least comes over for dinner or something.

We only talked about 10 minutes, because my lunch break was up. He told me it was good to talk to me and he told me he loved me. So, Dave is doing okay, he's just a dumbass that doesn't know how to deal with things, especially after letting this long go without contact. He is quite embarrassed about that and knows it has caused concern in the family.

So, here is the deal. I don't think it is a good idea for Dave to be bombarded by phone calls and visits from everyone, so I'm going to keep his phone number to myself for now. If he calls me while he is here, and comes for weekends and stuff, and gets comfortable, then I'll start sharing. He's going to be in Utah anyway, so you can't reach him on his phone after Saturday. I will keep everyone updated on any future visits, of course. Please don't be upset with me, but I really think this is the right thing to do.

I'm really sorry I didn't tell you guys yesterday, but I thought the best thing to do was to keep it quiet and wait and see what Dave does while he is in Salt Lake. Then today, the guilt started kicking in, and I thought everyone at least needs to know that Dave is doing okay. He wasn't fired or laid off, and he isn't homeless, he's actually looking forward to this new career move.

Let's just all keep positive thoughts that Dave calls me while he is here. I joked with him that if he doesn't, I'll just find him anyway. I've found him twice now, and I'll do it again. He thought that was funny and told me he would call me.

Happy Birthday Blog!!!!

Happy Birthday Blog! Yes, that's right, it was a year ago today that Emily created The Kids Were All Wright. Here is a little list of things the blog likes:

Top Five posts
Sundays With Sue
Random comments from Pops
Happy Birthday Posts
Word verifications that make us laugh and/or think
The new SWS winner playlist feature

It's hard to believe it's been a year, and in a way, it's hard to believe it's only been a year! In one year we have done 254 posts. That averages out as a post every 1.43 days! (if I did my math right). I love the blog and love how it has become such a fun way for us all to communicate. I love how the blog was originally going to be just for movie and book reviews/recommendations, and has turned into total random posts with the occasional movie and book review. Let's keep it up! The only downfall for me is that the internet nanny at my work is so hardcore I can't get on the blog at work. But, I can access my personal email and I sit there and giggle at the comments that come in.

Happy Birthday!!!!

Love you!!! Kissess!!!!

Words cannot describe how excited I am for this movie. It looks so good, I think it's going to be way better than Twilight. Here is the third preview, I don't know when it came out but I think it is pretty new. It looks awesome. I'm so excited! Enjoy!

Sunday's With Sue 9/13/9

As Good As it Gets! One of my favorite Jack Nicholson roles ever. He is great in this movie. Greg Kinnear is also really good. I normally don't like the romantic comedy type movies, but I really like this one, even though it has Helen Hunt in it.

Dad got it first! All right Dad! You're moving up on the all stars! Cat was next, then Haley, then Emily! B thought it might be Foul Play. Emily's message to me said this, and I quote, "Why oh why did you have to do this movie on my last pregnancy week?" I'll tell you why Em, I thought you would get it right away! I know you love this movie. I thought I'd pick one you'd get easily, in case Tiny E wasn't born yet, then at least you would be happy winning Sunday's With Sue. I had no idea you'd be the last one to guess it Wright.

We are moving

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that Travis, Booker and I are moving...to Pleasant Grove! I know it sounds crazy, but we have a really good reason. Turns out that Travis' parents got tired of living 2 hours away from their family and bought a house in Pleasant Grove. But they are also going on a mission (will probably leave at the end of this month). So they wanted someone in the family to move into it for the year they'll be gone. Let me tell you, almost every child in that family was wanting to do it. Cause the biggest thing is...it will be rent-free. Dan and Maureen had to choose which of us would benefit most from saving all that money for a year and they chose us! So we weighed all the pros and cons and decided that saving over $12,000 in that year would outweigh any con that we could think of. My hour + commute to work, Booker moving schools, the fact that it's only for a year, and living in Utah County, for example. So we're gonna do it! We will move out of here by October 1st. I think I would be more excited (I kind of like moving and setting up a new house) if I didn't love this place so much. I won't miss the crack houses and hookers so much, but I do love this yard. But the PG house has it's virtues too. It has an awesome back yard, totally private, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, really close to Em & Rob, for example. It's going to be pretty sweet. I have a couple pictures here. K, nevermind, you just get the one at the top. Still not posting-savvy enough to get pictures how I want them. So you'll all just have to come for a visit sometime in the next year. There's one plea I do have. This house does not have a lot of storage space. We'll have 2 extra bedrooms which will become an office and art studio, then one small storage closet, but this does not add up to much. I'm hoping we'll fit all our crap in. So I'm begging, any of you (Dan, Em?) I need to have Ben's things stored somewhere else. Here, it's absolutely no problem. Don't even know it's here. But at this PG house, it will be a problem. Would any of you be willing to take some of it? It's maybe 6 boxes and then 4 of those green storage bins. I would really appreciate it and wouldn't even ask if it wasn't going to be a problem for us. We have 3 weeks to figure this out. Love you all and ask for your blessings in our move.

ROCKY TRIBUTE CONTINUED...

Anyone who lives around Annie and Kelly knows that they are always singing. And singing. And every once in a while they sing again. And again.... One night soon after Rocky (their beloved cat) was killed, they started writing a song about it. I thought it was so funny and cute and I told them I wanted to film it. Well, then we started bouncing ideas back and forth a whole bunch and came up with some crazy ideas for tribute video that was both serious and ridiculous at the same time. At the end of our discussion, Kelly said: "K, but we actually have to do it this time. lol. :)"

So I promised them I would come over with my cameras, tripods, mics, and lights.
It really wasn't as big of project as it seems, I probably only put in about 6 hours total into this.
Hope you enjoy!!

Sunday's With Sue 8/6/9

Sorry everyone! I meant to do this on Sunday, but I had to work, and when I got home, I kind of forgot. I was busy finishing the laundry and cleanup after the camping trip, (which was great and relaxing, by the way). So yesterday, Cam and I decided we needed to do some canning. We had 60 lbs of tomatoes from our garden! Yes, 60! I weighed them on our bathroom scale. Plus a bunch more cucumbers and hot peppers that needed to be dealt with right away. So, we did a batch of mom's tomato soup, a bunch of salsa and more pickles. My first batch of pickles turned out so good, we decided to do more. I was going to do the SWS post when we were finished canning. So Cam and I got the tomato soup and salsa done, and started on the pickles. Cam had to go to bed around 8pm, so he could leave for St. George at 3:30am, so I was going to finish up the pickles.

Anyway, this is funny. At 11pm last night I was just finishing up the pickles, I had a load of laundry to fold, then I was going to do the SWS post and go to bed. I had all the lids on the pickles, all I needed to do was shake them up a little and put them on the kitchen table. So I get to the very last jar, I shook it and cucumbers and pickle juice, etc went everywhere! I had put the lid on the jar, but not the screw ring thing! I guess I was so tired, I didn't notice. And when I say it went everywhere, I mean everywhere! All over the island, the fridge, the wall and, the load of freshly dried laundry was sitting in a basket by the couch in the living room and it even went through the opening to the kitchen into the laundry basket! This was a quart size jar, and we decided to do pickle chips this time, so there was a lot in that jar. I stood there and couldn't believe what happened. I looked around and all I could see were slices of cucumbers, garlic cloves, red pepper flakes, little flakes of dill and pools of vinegar and water. It took me about half an hour to clean up, I had to put the clothes back in the washer, and needless to say, when it was all over, doing the SWS post was the last thing on my mind.

Okay, on to the post. Hamlet! Probably my very favorite Shakespeare play, and a couple of movies have been done too. I picked a picture of Hamlet finding York's skull, because that is one of my favorite scenes. Alas, poor York! I really don't like the movies that much, but I figure most everyone has either seen the play or one of the movies, or so I thought. Dan is the only one who got it Wright! At first he thought it was LA Story, then he guessed Hamlet after the other quotes were posted. Haley guessed A Midsummer's Night Dream, then changed her guess to Romeo and Juliet and Matt guessed Dead Poet's Society. Emily sent me an official non-guess, which I thought was funny. So, way to go Dan! Get ready for some Dan jams this week!

Here is this week's movie quote:

You're a disgrace to depression.
