Happy Birthday Dan!!

Happy Birthday Dan! And it's one of those big birthdays, Dan is 50! Sorry to remind you of that Dan. Thanks to everyone who helped me put together the list of things Dan likes. And a shout out to Alex and Hope for their contributions. It's been fun having you contribute to the family blog Dan. And I'm sure Emily and Matt are especially happy since you win Sundays With Sue often.

Here is a list of things Dan likes:

Dan loves golf, even though he's not very good at it, according to Alex.

He loves the Utah Jazz, and has had season tickets for a few years.

He likes Coldplay!

One of his favorite TV shows is Big Love. I love that show too.

He used to drink Diet Pepsi, but now he drinks........

Diet Sprite!

Dan loves Dolphins! We didn't know that, and it made most of us laugh when Alex mentioned it.

One of his favorite authors is Orson Scott Card.

He loves Round Table Pizza. Oh excuse me, RTP.

He loves to play Tripoly!

According to Alex, Dan is the biggest Meatloaf fan. I did some research, and found out that Dan is the only Meatloaf fan.

One of his favorite movies is Phenomenon.

And of course, I had to include Jbox Tacs. I didn't want to, because when I was 12 Jbox Tacs almost killed me from food poisoning, the night Michael Jackson's hair caught fire doing the Pepsi commercial.

Dan also loves telling stories about him and Scott on their mission.

Look how young and nerdy they are!

Hope you have a good birthday Dan! I think I can speak for all of us when I say, thank you for introducing Scott to Amy. I can't imagine our family without Scott in it, and we have you to thank for that.

Love you!! Kisses!!!

Sunday's With Sue

Sorry I didn't get this posted last night. I woke up Saturday morning with a wild hair, and decided to paint my kitchen. That project totally took over my weekend, I was up until almost 1am Sunday night putting on the second coat of primer. Yes, 2 whole days of work and I only have primer on. I forgot how much prep work it takes to paint. No wonder I haven't painted a room since I did the guest room last summer. And I had to work until 7 pm today, so I am now just getting to this.
Anyway, Die Hard! One of the best action movies ever. It is one of those movies I end up watching every time cable shows it. I love this movie. I totally dug the most recent one too. When he hits the helicopter with the car, that was awesome!
Anyway, not too many guesses this week! I know Matt and Dad are dying to know which one got it first. And the winner is......Dad! Way to go Dad! That's 3 wins in the last month or so. Sorry Matt, Dad's email came in at 8:53am and your text came in at 11:22. No one else had a wright guess. Dan thought it might be the Matrix. I'm not trying to pick hard movies!
Here is this week's movie quote:
Do you spend time with your family? Good. Because a man that doesn't spend time with his family, can never be a real man.

UNDER THE RADAR "21" the movie 3 stars

Pretty good PG13 movie, based on a true story of MIT students counting cards in Vegas and winning at blackjack.  Kevin Spacey is good as always and all in all a worthy movie to see.
Not a biggie, but nice.  Interesting about the life of high I.Q. students.

A pleasing new New Moon fact

It was announced today that Thom Yorke will be writing a new song for the New Moon soundtrack........... Radiohead fans everywhere are in an uproar.
The entire music community has been writing songs trying to get on this soundtrack because of the fan base of Twilight and what it did for the bands that were put on the first soundtrack (ie the Jonas Brothers -gag-, and some past American Idol winner I forget which, etc.) and competition is fierce. I have no idea why Thom has become interested enough to write a new song for it, as he is notorious for not giving a crap about popular things or opinions, all I know is the director Chris Weitz is going to
listen to the new song today and I quote, "unless it's sounds of him belching, I think I'll put it in." Good choice Mr. Weitz.
So, while the Radiohead community laments, there is a little old fan in Cedar Hills that is quite excited and can't WAIT to hear the song. Come on people, lighten up! It's a fun and interesting story-- stop taking yourselves so seriously!
And uh, need I say--- New Thom Yorke song to enjoy???

Sue and Booker's Lagoon Day

I've been promising Booker a Lagoon day for the last couple of years, and finally made good on that promise on Tuesday. Booker has gone to Lagoon with a friend of his, and didn't have a very good time. His friend is kind of a wuss, and was afraid to ride any of the big rides. When I heard that, I promised myself I would take Boo to Lagoon and ride any big ride he wanted to. So, I happened to have Tuesday off this week, so I figured that would be a good day to take Boo to Lagoon. I invited Cam's sister's, Kristin and Randee, and Randee's two boys, Marshall and Ashton. They accepted, and we had the best day at Lagoon you could possibly have.

I don't know if it is because we went on a Tuesday, or if it 's the economy or what. But, we had the best day at Lagoon you could possibly have. It was like they closed the gates after a couple hundred of us got in. The park was mostly empty. We would literally get off a ride, and if we liked that ride enough, we just ran up to the entrance and got on the next ride. The longest we stood in line was maybe 10 minutes. Most of the day we were able to get off the ride and turn around and get right back on. Every time we rode the Colossus, the train was actually just sitting there empty waiting for people to get on!

Here are some pictures of the day:
All of us in front of Wicked.

Booker bored on a kiddy ride. The boys rode some kiddy rides while me and Kristin and Randee took a lunch break.

Booker on the Flying Aces.

All of us but Kristin on Rattle Snake Rapids. Kristin is on a bridge taking pictures of us.

A few seconds later we got totally soaked by the waterfall. I got soaked the most.

Everyone laughing at me at how soaked I got.

Booker on Wicked, just before the ride takes off.

Not a picture of us on Wicked, but an online picture I found of the ride. It is the best ride ever, and we climbed that hill just seconds after the above picture of Booker was taken.

Booker and my nephew Ashton on the White Roller Coaster. They insisted on staying in line until they were the first car.

Booker on the Bumper Cars.

Me and Booker on the Tidal Wave.

Me and Boo with our arms up on the Tidal Wave.

Great pic of just Boo with his arms up on the Tidal Wave.

Best picture ever. Me laughing at Boo, and just check out what Boo is doing.

Finally, a pic of me riding The Wild Mouse with the boys. We rode this ride more than any other.

Annie

Just in case you missed this on my blog...this is Annie getting folded in half last night by a particularly rough bump. Miraculously, she stayed on the tube! Kelly is to the left of her.

Sunday's With Sue

Trading Places! I haven't seen this movie in years, but I remember it is very funny. Back when Eddie Murphy was funny. So, what was the last good movie Eddie Murphy did? Coming to America? I still think Dan Ackroyd is funny, he doesn't seem to do much lately. But I have heard that all the original actors are on board for a Ghostbusters 3 movie! That should be fun.

So, I think I had more wrong guesses with this movie than any other SWS movie. I'll start with the wrong guesses: Haley thought Bevery Hills Ninja, Jeanine thought Beverly Hills Cop, Matt thought Rush Hour, and Dan thought Stir Crazy. So, who was the first with a wright guess? It was Neaners! She guessed both Beverly Hills Cop and Trading Places in the same message. Dan got it second, then Dad! Way to go Neaners! I hope you sent Em a different playlist, because your nerdy Ipod winning playlist was voted off the blog! I was afraid the Spoons were going to kick some wright butt, but Dad got his answer in this morning. Way to represent Dad!

Here is this week's movie quote:

I'm Agent Johnson, this is Special Agent Johnson. No relation.

UNDER THE RADAR "DEFIANCE" 3.5 STARS

Good movie, Peeps:  Good story, good acting and a true story.  What's a better story than Jews getting away from the Germans and camping and surviving in the woods for three years?  Interesting and gripping and I liked it.  History also as the Red army was involved in the story.
Take a chance and check it out.    By-the-way, I noticed today that "Taking Chance" the movie got quite a few (10) Emmy nominations.   Well deserved.  Laugh or not, I netflixed "Pineapple Express" and watched 10 minutes of it tonight and stopped.  Put it in the envelope and mailing it back tomorrow.  So foul language that even I didn't want to be more polluted and hear any more.  And I like Franco a lot.  So much for me.  Keep the pictures of Scout and Allison coming for they make my week.

Angels & Demons - 4 Stars

I read this book because one of my friends recommended Dan Brown. Also, there was a lot of hype about the new movie coming out and I heard that A&D was supposed to "kick Da Vinci Code's butt". I was very fascinated with Da Vinci Code (I had just seen the movie, always meant to read the book but never got around to it.) So I decided since A&D was actually first in the series (chronologically) I would read that one first. Well, I really liked it a lot! It was very well written and very suspenseful, definitely a thriller. Once the story got going, I had a hard time putting it down. It is pretty intense and also one to make you think. I loved all the art history in it and I'm sure my aunts would also enjoy that aspect of it. It made me want to go to Rome more than I already do! It has many twists and turns and always keeps you guessing. And then just when you think you have it figured out, he makes you look like an idiot. Haha. Oh, I must say that I hated the very end of the book. The ending of the whole story was fine, just the very last page of the book is so DUMB! Just had to say it. Anyway, I would for sure recommend it to those who haven't read it. I also read Da Vinci Code afterward and also enjoyed that, but I did like A&D a little better.

Sunday's With Sue

National Lampoons Vacation! Sorry it's so late, and sorry I didn't do a Friday hint. I changed internet providers and couldn't get it really working until Sunday afternoon. I was going to do the posting last night. But I put a movie in at about 8pm, fell asleep and woke up on the couch around 1:30am! I hate it when that happens!

Anyway Dad got if first! Em thought maybe the Muppet Movie, but wasn't too sure. A couple days later Em sent in Vacation as her guess. Sorry again that I didn't do a Friday one, maybe more people would have gotten it. This is a classic movie and I watched most of it on cable a couple of weeks ago. It is hilarious! I love Chevy Chase and I think he looks a bit like Dad.

Here is this week's movie quote:

Person #1-If you beat up on so many cops, how comes we don't see no scratches on you?

Person #2- Coz I'm a karate man, bruise on the inside, don't show my weaknesses.

I know someone on awkward family photos!!

I spent a lot of time at work today cruising the awkward family photos website. It was really slow at work and I hadn't checked out the website in awhile. After I got a few pages in, I thought how funny it would be to see a picture of someone I knew. Well, guess what? I got to page 25 and it happened! It is a picture of a woman sitting in a huge chair with a man standing behind her. I immediately recognized the chair as being in the lobby of The Hotel Indigo I stayed at while on a business trip in Atlanta. The Indigo was a new hotel chain the company I used to work for started. The one in Atlanta was the first one and a few of us got to go there and stay at the hotel. I'm almost positive the two in the picture are both managers at the hotel. They look very familiar, especially her. I think her name is Sarah.

I've included a link to the page. It's the third picture down. Please take the time to check out the first picture on the page the "confidence girls" because wow! I also included a link to the hotel's website so you can see pictures of the lobby I'm talking about. And just before I started this post I noticed I had a pencil from that hotel on my desk. I took a picture of it and included it.

Sunday's With Sue

Roseanne! One of the best TV shows that has ever been made. The Roseanne show had a great cast and was so well written. I've watched a lot of episodes lately because Nick at Nite has been doing Roseanne marathons. I'm not a fan of the post lottery win seasons, but the shows up to that story line are classic. Sorry Dad, I won't do TV shows often. Here is a little tie-in with last week's Sunday's with Sue. The guy that played Danny in Caddyshack, was Fred in Roseanne!

Cat guessed first! So we are in for more Conor! (Hey, that was the last name of the family on Roseanne!) Emily was second to get it right, and that was it. Haley guessed Seinfeld and Dan thought it might be Family guy.

Here is this week's quote from a movie:

You think you hate it now, wait'll you drive it!

Laughs for the Week

Anybody keeping up with the awkwardfamilyphotos.com blog? I was just killing time this AM at the airport and gave it a look. They are posting awkward family letters and memos now with the pictures. Some pretty good pic there, but what got to me was the controling mother/grandmother and the food assignments to the family for thanksgiving. Scroll down until you get to it and read it. Amazing!! Another one futher down about the girl friend telliing her boyfriend about her grandmothers toilet also cracked me up, but it's a bit gross. Hope you all had a good 4th of July. We did! Love
