2011 movies B wants to see...

Since Matt won’t do the WTB, I thought I’d breath a little life into this place. I am bent on not being completely in the dark when Oscar season comes, so out of that came lots and lots of movie trailer watching (and a whole lot of disappointment when some things were just lame-sauce fan trailers). Anyways, here are my picks, in completely random release date order.

The Help: Just finished the book, so stoked for the movie!!

Jane Eyre: Duh

Wimpy Kid 2: Don’t judge me. The first one was cute, and that kid is endearing.

Hop: Russell Brand plays the Easter Bunny's teenage fluffy bunny son who wants to be in a rock and roll band. Sounds good to me!

Mars needs Moms: Actually, never mind. Those cartoon aliens are a little much for me, and Joan Cusack’s voice is SO ANNOYING.

The Conspirator: Most Abe Lincoln things are awesome and I read that the main character lady did really good.

Abduction. Taylor Lautner finds out that he’s a missing child and has to run from people? Looks a lot like Taken, which is fine with me.

50/50. Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 500 Days of Summer has a brain tumor.

And most of all (Dun dun dun…) Footloose 2011. It looks as awesomely terrible as the first one!! I was wondering when there was going to be a re-make. Notice how many re-makes and sequels there are lately?!

Ok, so apparently the sight I was on is SUPER LAME, and featured barely half of these movies. So here is the Extended Version of my list.

Breaking Dawn: Again, duh. I am actually really excited to see how they do this!

Muppets: Not as excited as Sue, but still stoked.

Tintin: WHAT?! Yes please!!! Sadly, it’s animated, but Steven Spielberg did it, so I’ve got my fingers crossed. I have read almost every single Tintin book, and LOVE THEM!!

The Host: It’s a cross between this and Tintin for movie I’m most excited to see.

The Green Hornet: Self made super hero with awesome sarcastic sidekick. What’s not to love.

Hanna: A 16 year old is raised by her dad in Antarctica to be an assassin. Looks kind of awesome (although after reading Endurance, I DON’T KNOW WHY PEOPLE GO DOWN THERE!!!!).

Paul. Two alien lovers go exploring alien sites and find an alien, named Paul. While I’m not an alien lover, Paul seems non-threatening enough. Looks funny, albeit a little crude.

Rio: I am a Jesse Eisenberg fan, so him doing animation sounds GREAT!

*The Beaver: Mel Gibson uses a beaver puppet as a therapeutic tool to separate his anxious self from his real self.

War Horse: “Follows a young man named Albert and his horse, Joey, and how their bond is broken when Joey is sold to the cavalry and sent to the trenches of World War One. Despite being too young to enlist, Albert heads to France to save his friend.”

*Meek’s Cutoff: A story about Oregon Trail pioneers.

*Totally just on here because I find them on an early Oscar Predictions website. But the trailers were intriguing.

One last thing. We (Matt, Amy, Kelly, Annie, Kyle and I) watched the new Arthur with Russell Brand, and it was HILARIOUS!!!! We highly recommend it.

Hero. 4 stars!

So Matt's good friend Lee loaned us 4 movies to watch, which included this one, Memoirs of a Geisha, and 2 anime films that he told Matt to try. I'd been feeling under the weather and watching Pride and Prejudice all day, so I was ready for a drastic change. We saw that it was presented by Quentin Tarantino, meaning he saw it and loved it and brought it to the states. We figured if Quentin liked it, it'd be pretty dang good. And no surprise, it was AMAZING!! It's all in subtitles, which I enjoy and Matt hates, but didn't mind this time. The imagery alone is worth watching this movie. The use of colors is incredible, the scenes in the palace courtyard are just epic, the storyline is SO interesting to follow, the ending is surprising and heroic (for lack of a better adjective), and the action scenes are a little unrealistic, but still fun. I won't spoil anything, but I really really like the ending, which will probably surprise anyone who sees this. I'll just leave it at that. Anyways, see this if you're in the mood for a good action film (with hardly any blood), stunning imagery, a little history/crash course in Chinese dialect, and a powerful message, see this.

WTB: Wayne's World!!!!!!

Wayne's World!!!! One of very few movies that I can quote from start to finish. I watched this probably 4-5 times a year growing up. Mike Myers always looks weird to me with short hair!! So does Dana Carvey. Rob Lowe will always be Benjamin to me, and Alice Cooper has the best cameo. I apologize, I should've switched the Wednesday and Sunday hints and made it a little more challenging, but hey, I'm new at this!! And the winner is....... a tie!!!! Sort of. Here's the deal. Alex, Matt and Em ran into the kitchen to check out the new quote on Sunday night. Alex came sprinting back in after he'd read it and whispered it in my ear. I didn't look at the time. Less than 10 minutes later, I logged into my Facebook and saw that Dan had made a guess!!! At 10:26!!! And it was about 10:35 when I logged on. I asked Alex what time he'd told me, and we couldn't really remember, but it was pretty much at that time! SO! There was a discussion held, and the conclusion that we came to is that Alex is going to be really really busy this week, and won't have time to look up quotes and all that stuff, so he wants the playlist, a point for both him and Dan, but Dan can pick the movie and do the quotes this week. How does that sound? Fair? Does anyone have any objections? I'm so sorry I screwed this up so badly. It's a good thing I don't ever win!! So Dan and Alex won, and Matt got it later Sunday night, and not a peep from anyone else, although Emily knows she knows it. And I know Sue knows it. Thanks for letting me play guys!!

Happy Birthday Conor!

Conor Mullen Oberst is 30 today!! He's been a very special part of Matt and I's relationship, and Matt and Cath's relationship, and I know some of the nieces and Alex enjoy his musical and poetic genius. He's massively talented, and has been recording music for over half of his life now, starting with Commander Venus. Desaparecidos, Bright Eyes, the Faint, and the Mystic Valley Band have become a huge part of my life and although I'm a newcomer to the scene, I've loved both of his concerts that I've been to. So here's to Conor, the adorable goat-voiced boy from Omaha who has enhanced many a road trip for me.

Love you!! Kisses!!!

Everyone should be a bit more like Dee Dee Ramone

Matt and I watched this documentary last night and LOVED IT!!! Oh my goodness, so bittersweet. This followed the Ramones from their formation until their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Let me just say, they are one of those bands that never got the success and recognition that they deserved (New York Dolls style). Maybe I'm just excited because I'm lame, and don't know that much about any band, but WOW!! They weren't musical geniuses; Tommy Ramone had never played the drums before, Dee Dee hadn't played the bass, and Joey hadn't sang, but put that together with short, fast songs and there is just a unique sound that I LOVE!!! Something Matt and I found out is that they aren't British. HAHAHA!!! We both thought they were!!! Even though Joey sings by only pronouncing 45% of the words, they are all from New York. Here's a rundown of some of their awesomeness:

Joey Ramone: Matt is going to be this tall, skinny punkrocker for Halloween. He was OCD his whole life, painfully shy, and never let go of a grudge, but he really loved what he did. Died in 2001, but even 4 days before he died of cancer, he wasn't letting himself be fed through tubes so that he wouldn't hurt his vocal cords.

Johnny Ramone: Kind of a jerk, but is one of the main reasons the band stayed together as long as they did. Really looked after all the business sides of the band, and their image. Was the only one who had actually played his instrument before the band formed. Died in 2005. Inspired to Joey to write "The KKK took my baby away", after he married Joey's former girlfriend.

Dee Dee Ramone: I LOVE this guy. Oh my gosh. SO cute in his younger years. Always very innocent and fun loving, but blunt and real at the same time. Struggled with drug use his whole life, and finally died of a heroin overdose 2 months after the Hall of Fame induction. At the ceremony, he said "I'd like to thank myself. Without me, none of this would have happened. Give myself a pat on the back." Funniest thing ever. While he was kind of flaky, he really was good friends with every one of the members, and stayed away from most of the drama. He did leave the Ramones and have an atrociously bad rap career, but nobody's perfect.

Tommy Ramone was the original drummer, but then became their producer. Marky Ramone followed, and was their drummer for a long time. Then they had Richie and Elvis as drummers, and C.J. Ramone replaced Dee Dee as bass player for a while.

Anyways, you should all watch the movie. It rocks!! I give it 4 stars, because I'm not sure how much everyone else loves the Ramones. Gabba Gabba Yeah!!

Top 5 reasons Pretty Woman sucks as a movie

I watched this recently with Dad, and I have to say, it really bugged me. It gets 1

Star

1: It's a Cinderella story about a hooker.
2: Julia Roberts is way too classy to be a hooker.
3: Julia Roberts was not a very good actress in it.
4: My mom has a huge crush on Richard Gere, so he automatically bugs me.
5: Stuckie the lawyer is a complete jerky slimebally.

Sue, I want to know what you think. And I did like her clothes in the movie. Clothes make the movie sometimes.
