Haley's WTB II

I'm on a roll! It's nice actually knowing these once in a while. I decided to do some of my favorite songs from musicals, just for something different. Also my favorite opera song ever, it seriously can bring me to tears. Well, anyway here is your new quote for this week!

Person 1: Are you married?
Person 2 : I'm divorced.
Person 1: Would you like to talk about that?
Person 2 : There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him.
Person 1 : [pause] I see. So, what you're saying is that even though you are an almost-paralyzed, multiphobic personality who is in a constant state of panic, your wife did not leave you, you left her because she... liked Neil Diamond?

***Wednesday Hints:***

[talking to his fish]
Person 1: Good morning, Gil. I said, good morning, Gil.

Here's another one just for fun:

Person 1: I'm sailing! I'm sailing! I sail ! I'm a sailor ! I sail !

***Friday Giveaway***

Person 1:  [eating corn] Oh, Fay, this is so scrumptious. Is this hand-shucked?

Another one:

Person 1: Baby step to four o'clock. Baby step to four o'clock.

The Goonies (WTB)

Sorry every one for not posting this yesterday- I even apologize to Dan in all his snarkiness. I will admit I TOTALLY forgot about posting yesterday. I did the Highland garage sale circuit on the bike with both kids and I don't know how many miles I rode, but it was a lot. We had a lot of fun and Scout scored some new Littlest Petshop toys and Elles scored a bath seat so she can bathe with her sister in the big bath (which they tried out this morning with success and fun for all), she also scored a new exersaucer that is smaller, more attractive to have in my living room, more fun, works better and was cheaper then the one we got her a few months ago. Not too bad. Of course we didn't haul it all home on the bike, we had to come back with the car after we got home. Anyway, the giant bike ride rendered me pretty useless the rest of the day and Rob and I ended up having Wendy's for dinner and renting a movie. Not a bad Saturday night (except that we happen to live by the worst Wendy's in the state- Dave I'm sure is rolling around in his grave thinking of our Cedar Hills Wendy's).
That was my explanation as to why I didn't post WTB. I didn't have the wherewithal to even think about the computer. SO, whatever, I did The Goonies this week, if there was anyone left wondering. Oh, I think Amy is still clueless. This was always a fun movie to watch growing up. Funny moments (truffle shuffle) and some good adventure (big pirate ship with treasure still aboard floating around where they were actually looking for it). Enough to wow a kid in the 80's at least.

So, congrats Haley, it's you again! Haley beat the crowd, by sending in her guess at 1:34 am. She knew it right away apparently. My second guess came unofficially from Ami, not saying the movie, but telling me how much she loves this movie and still subjects her reluctant husband to watching it now and then. So, even though she didn't officially guess, I'm giving her a little shout out for getting it second. Then came Cat, then Alex, then Sue and finally, yes, Dan did eventually guess it right. Guess he isn't too high brow for such dribble (or perhaps he is but saw it anyway).

Take it away Berries Pies!

UNDER THE RADAR ***Stars

Nice little coming of age movie. A couple of rauncy parts but well done. Predictable and a little sappy, but overall worth seeing and pretty enjoyable. Made in Canada and a few years old. Some critics compare it to Rudy, but I would'nt go that far.

Nerdfest 2010

Which is how Rob referred to it.

Sue, Cat and I called it our super cool LOST party. We decided to say goodbye to Lost by watching it together and having a proper party. We never ever watch it together (we just discuss it together afterward). Anyway, it just seemed right to watch the finale together.

In a hotel room.

With Dharma brand food.

I decided if there was ever a time I was going to go no holds barred nerd, it was going to be for this, so I put myself in charge of dinner and snacks and downloaded some labels off the internet, cut and double sided taped them while watching the Grey's season finale and I was VERY proud of the result. Rob is still wondering what went wrong and how he got here.

The Tic Tacs were a party favor I made to take home and keep (or eat). I broke open a pac in the middle of our party and I struggled with opening it and told Sue, "these aren't as easy to open as regular tic tacs" and Sue goes, "stupid Dharma brand tic tacs."
Heehee.

We went in watching the series finale with no idea what was going to happen. The series end was set up so well, no one could make a guess on how it would be wrapped up. I haven't heard yet what the Lost community thinks of it, but as for us-- we were very surprised and happy with the end. We stared in disbelief, dropped our jaws, scratched our heads, and cheered. What more could you ask for?

So, farewell Lost, we sure enjoyed you. Admittedly, you were not always the best acted or best written show, yes- there were times we outright laughed at where you went (giant wheel anyone?) BUT, we always forgave you. What you did do was always supply us with endless discussions on who are the good guys, what's better-- a man of science or a man of faith, what the bip do those numbers mean?
I will miss Sawyer's nicknames, texting Sue in the middle of watching an episode with a simple: "BIP!" and I'm going to miss Hurley.

Live together, die alone.

Yeah, I'm not going to miss that line.

WHAT THE BIP!

Arg! I didn't have a movie prepared and everything I thought of had either been done before or was rated R. After looking at some on line movie lists I came up with this classic:

PERSON #1: Listen, okay? You guys'll never believe me. There was two cop cars, okay? And they were chasing this four-wheel deal, this real neat ORV, and there were bullets flying all over the place. It was the most amazing thing I ever saw!

PERSON #2: More amazing than the time Michael Jackson come over to your house to use the bathroom?

PERSON #3: More amazing than the time you saved those old people from that nursing home fire, right?

PERSON #4: Yeah, and I bet it was even more amazing than the time you ate your weight in Godfather's pizza, right?

PERSON #1: Okay, (PERSON #3). Michael Jackson didn't come over to my house to use the bathroom. He was about to. But his sister did.

GOOD LUCK!

ps: my play list this week is dedicated to my two girls- these are their favorite songs.

Poor Elles isn't represented too well, since she is a little young to develop preferences, but she has shown a marked preference for "fog" starting very young. Every time I started singing it to her she would clam up and stare at me. (She also LOVES it when Scout and I sing her the goodbye song the little monkeys sing signaling the end of Playhouse Disney- but I didn't look for that one). Her other favorite is Harmony by Elton John but it wasn't on playlist and I am EXTREMELY annoyed since it is (in my opinion) the best song on the Good bye Yellow Brick Road album and every single other song from that album was there but that one. I had to settle for Tiny Dancer which is a song that I sang to Scout a lot as a little one. She has really shown a huge interest in all music though- she is especially fascinated to see people singing on tv and loves to watch American Idol with us (I have no doubt she is enjoying this season a lot more then Rob and I).

I am still annoyed about Harmony. Erg! I'm going to bed.

Haley's WTB

DUMB & DUMBER!!

This definitely is a classic for sure! This movie is so stinkin funny. It was hard to only choose one quote, there are so many funny lines from this movie. It was also hard to not pick ones that would give it away on the first one.
Well, Emily is our winner this week! She got it in minutes before Dan and then Grandpa was right after him. Then Matt got it right the next day. My mom got it after the wednesday quote and that was it! I was surprised that I didn't get more guesses on this one. Well, that was fun!

Take it away Ems!

YNE (Yes, No, Eh) -- Actresses

I'm slow in getting it up, but here is the second list for the "Yes, No, Maybe" thread—actresses this time. To create this list, I decided to take the list of Academy Award nominees for best actress or supporting actress from the 1980s to the present. There were 44 of them with multiple noms, and I’ve willy nilly narrowed that list down to 35. Then, again, I also chose a few (listed after this first group) who I thought might be actresses that would be polarizing to some of us. As with before, I'm sure I left out people who some of you may want to talk about. I have kept my full list, though, so I will do a "catch all" for the rest of these some time in the future.

As with last time, just GO FOR IT in the comments on whoever you may want to talk about! Who is amazing and what roles do you point to in supporting your view? Who can't you stand or just don't "get"?

Actresses with multiple nominations:

Annette Benning
Amy Adams
Cate Blanchett
Charlize Theron
Debra Winger
Diane Keaton
Emma Thompson
Frances McDormand
Glenn Close
Goldie Hawn
Helen Mirren
Hilary Swank
Holly Hunter
Jane Fonda
Jessica Lange
Jodie Foster
Julia Roberts
Julie Christie
Kate Winslet
Kathy Bates
Laura Linney
Marisa Tomei
Mary McDonnell
Meryl Streep
Michelle Pfeiffer
Nicole Kidman
Penelope Cruz
Renee Zellweger
Sally Field
Samantha Morton
Shirley MacLaine
Sigourney Weaver
Sissy Spacek
Susan Sarandon
Whoopi Goldberg
Winona Ryder

Single-time noms who may generate some commentary:

Angelina Jolie
Anne Hathaway
Gwyneth Paltrow
Halle Berry
Helen Hunt
Kate Hudson
Kathleen Turner
Keira Knightly
Reese Witherspoon
Sandra Bullock
Sharon Stone

Defendor

This is really a nice little movie. Not what you would expect of a superhero film at all. Woody Harrelson is great. It has about 3 swears, but it's funny and a good story and it was very endearing to me. I enjoyed it very much. Travis liked it as well.

MUSIC TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK

What musical artist has had the most Number one hits...all time...ever? Make your guess on the comment section.

Haley's WTB!

Yay! I'm so happy I won, it's my first time. I'm just glad to get a win in before beloved pregnancy brain gets into full swing. Toy Story is great, good one Alex. Finally one I have seen after a dry spell there for a while. Just send me a facebook message with your guesses. Ok, so here is the new quote for this week!

Person 1: Uh, what is the Soup Du Jour?
Person 2: It's the Soup of the Day.
Person 1: Mmmm. That sounds good. I'll have that.

Good Luck!

WTB Toy Story!!!!

Toy Story! Great movie I hope everyone can appreciate.

Funny little side note: I remember when this movie first came out and seeing a commercial preview for it and it was like "Do you know what your toys do when no one is around?" and had all these creepy shots of these ominous toy shadow figures coming to life. To be honest it scared the hell out of me. So it was kinda funny that it turned out to be such a cute and fun movie.

I figured everybody would get a chance at this one. I never realized how quotable this movie was until I got on imdb and saw all the quotes there. Haley was, of course the winner, as she sent me a message around 10 am on Monday. A few hours later B guessed it wright, then on Wed. Em and Amy got it wright as well (good job Aimes!!!!) Followed by Dan on Friday.

Great job everybody!

Spoon's WTB May 9th

-YEEEEEHAAAAAW!!!!

That's a good yeehaw, son.

-Thanks, I've been practicin.

Haha I love this movie! We used to watch it all the time when I was workin in Bryce Canyon. It's always fun to watch movies that pertain to your particular line of work. Every time I'm out calvin or brandin or movin wee baby calves, I always call them Norman. Hellloooo.

I thought for sure everybody would get it with the Wednesday clue and poor Billy Crystal's bum surgery. So I was a happily surprised to learn that I was the winna.

Here we go again:

Person 1: "It's....it's bedsheets!"

Person 2: "Who invited that kid?"

WTB!!! City Slickers!

City Slickers! This is a great movie. I end up watching it when it's on cable. Love Jack Palance as Curley. Billy Crystal is really funny in this and it's just a great story. If you haven't seen it, you should.

Judging by the number of guesses I got, I would think hardly anyone saw this movie. I really thought the Friday quote would be a total give away. So, you want to know who won this week? It was Alex! Way to go Spoon! And you thought for sure it wasn't going to be you. Dan was next to guess Wright, then Em, and that was it!

Take it away Spoon!

SWS! Wait, I mean WTB!

I can't believe I finally got one right! It is tougher than I thought it would be to guess the quotes. I decided to do a total old school 80's playlist in honor of last week's movie from Dad. These are songs and bands I loved and listened to about a million times back then.

Here is this weeks quote:

Woman: Listen, it took a lot of courage to do what you did. Thank you.

Man: I'm Married.

Good luck peeps!

WTB Movie

I don't know what the teenage adolescence kids go see nowadays to watch love stories, growing up films and just plain funny movies, now that John Hughes died. He wrote: Curly Sue, Dutch, Uncle Buck, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club and our movie of the week...Some Kind of Wonderful. John Hughes was a wonder. He also did: P.T. & A. Home Alone, Christmas Vacation and all the sequels and many more. He directed many of them also. RIP John.

Some more quotes from S.K. of Wonderful: Kieth: You can't tell a book by its cover.
Watts: No, but you can tell how much it's gonna cost you. Keith: Wow, I never knew you were so deep. Watts: You want shallow, call Amanda Jones.

Keith: I'm sorry. I'm sorry I was so hard on you.
Watts: Me too.
Keith: You always hurt the ones you love.
Watts: So when are you going to beat the shit out of Amanda Jones?

Watts: You break his heart. I break your face.

Anyway, fun little movie in the middle 80's. M. S. M. carried the movie with her role as Watts.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE:: SUSIE WON! She was just a little ahead of Emily on friday morning. Matt made some lame, wild guesses because of the drum reference in the quote. La Bamba for example. Dan and Lori came in with the correct answer Sat. morning. Where's Cat and Amy?

Waytogo, Sue. First real win after all this time. Not a default win. You are the one! Congrats!

Have a good week.
