Sunday's With Sue

Funny Girl! Very funny movie starring Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif. If you haven't seen it, see it. I didn't mean for this one to be as hard for you guys as is was. I only had 2 guesses, and both were right, I didn't get any wrong guesses this week! Dad guesses first! Yay Dad! Then Emily guessed. Both of them got it with the first quote! Way to go guys!

Emily and I are in Rexburg right now visiting new little baby Allison! She is so cute and she has a stuffy nose so she is snorting a lot which is really cute. It was fun to see the Phisters and Matt and B on the web cam!

Okay, here is this week's movie quote:

I'm just a big, hairy American winning machine.

Way to go, George! Score one for the ancient folk. Congrats to you and Em for being the only smarties (or perhaps the only old flick lovers in the bunch besides Sue).

I'm relieved to know it wasn't a movie I've ever seen, though I do like Barbra.

Wow! I'm on a roll...hahaha We used to watch it for the music and the laughs. Some pretty good comic stuff in this movie. Thanks, Sue, for choosing an oldie for us old timers to have a chance at.

Oh man, I've seen this movie and like it, but didn't link the quotes to it.

Just wanted to add a note about the movie The Visitor that Sue posted about a while ago (I can't spot where right now so figured I'd do it here). Thanks for that recommendation, Sue! Because of it, when I noticed it on Starzz, I recorded it and now just watched it. What a beautiful, intimate movie. SO slow in unfolding but every note in place. When he joins that drum circle, I was bawling. Anyway, one of those "think" movies that George was just complaining about in the Doubt thread, and it's a sad and wistful one, too, but one that I'm glad I saw. Lorri says that when films end like this one does, she just makes up a "everybody is happy" rest of the story for what happens next. Not a bad plan with one like this in which all the main characters are such fundamentally good people.

I'm so glad you took my recommendation and watched it and liked it Dan! It is such a good movie. I need to buy it. It's probably in the 4.99 bin at Blockbuster by now. Most of the movies I really like and want to own end up in the deeply discounted bins, I love it!

It is a thinking movie, but it's one my Dad did like. I love the movies that make you think more than any other type of movie.

My posting about the Visitor is under the label "Under the Radar". So if you click on that it will bring up those movies I recommend. I haven't done one since the Visitor, I kind of forgot. I need to get on that.

Thanks for pointing me to where you'd posted about The Visitor. Knew I'd seen it!

Of the others there, I've seen Shopgirl and liked it, too. Haven't seen Young at Heart yet but will Netflix it immediately!

BTW, Lorri finally watched Doubt last night and was with the "he probably didn't do anything wrong with the kid" crowd. Yay, Lorri! [said with a grin toward all you who went the other way on that issue...]

Some of you (Dan) are getting the idea that I don't like "thinking" movies due to the TIC (tougue-in-cheek) comment I made about doubt. Just trying to get a chuckle after all the serious discussion. I admit to being a romantic and an action guy, but many of my all time favorites are head movies. I can't think to list them just now because of the lateness of the hour (waiting for a late plane tonight) but I might at a later date if pressed. I did like "The Visitor" a lot and you discribed it well, Dan. An editor you are with a good turn of phrase. That is meant as a compliment.

Sue babe, Thanks for the props to me on your green score sheet to the right of the postings. However, whats with the crack about Barbra Streisand and her movies all about?? "Funny Girl" and "The Way you Were" are the only ones I can stand and liked. I hated Yentle, Nuts, The Prince of Tides" and probabally some other I can't remember just now. Some boxing thing?? Oh! I liked "What's up Doc?". Oh yeah! Sue, you can't spell her first name. Hahahaha...hehehhe love, dad

Glad to hear from you, Jeanine. Said a few prayer on your behalf. I don't know what happened to you, but happy to hear you are getting better and going home soon. Glad Sharon has been there. Love, G.

Sorry I didn't do a quote yesterday. My internet was down almost all day for some reason.

First-Dad it's Emily who updates the Sunday's with Sue allstars! Emily is the wrong who spelled her name wrong. Look at the posting, I spelled it wright. So, in your face! Snap!

Here is the wednesday quote:

I'm a little confused with your tactics, so I'm gonna continue acting tough.

My verification word is begrawa. Is that one of B's sister's names? hee hee hee

Pops said...

One of B's sisters names....hahaha. Good one, Sue.
My w. Verif. word is "niessi" that must make me a prehistoric water thing from Scotland. Sorry, sue about the mixup about the allstars posting. Please accept my sorrowful apology. I knew you know better and I thought Ems did too. I cut Emily some slack because of her pregnent brain. Surfing the cable movie channels last time and just happened to see the quote about the hairy American winning machine. How about that....am I lucky or what!!!

B said...

Hehe, not a sister's name, but one I am considering for my oldest child now. Begrawa Susan Wright. Nice ring to it.

I wish I had pregnant brain, then at least I'd have an excuse for being a spaz.

I have no idea what this movie is. I almost watched Funny Girl once at Phisters, and it is still in my line of things to do. I need a life.

Do we ever get Friday hints? Even though at least Dad has it by now?...

Sue said...

Thanks for reminding me Cat! The Friday quotes are kind of new, so I forget sometimes.

Here is the Friday quote:

I can't understand one word you're saying. Do you have peanut butter in your mouth?
