Emily and Vincent Van Gogh

After reading ajmah's comments (whoever ajmah is) about Emily and Vincent Van Gogh in the baby names posting, I just had to post one of our favorite pics of Ems.  We still have it on our mirror in the bedroom.  Yes, it is the real thing.  Where was that, Ems.?  Chicago Art Institute?

Hello... Ajmah again. Also known as Ami Anderson Hart.

I had to post again, because it turns out, I'm the one who took this picture. It was taken in the Museum of Modern Art when Emily, Alex, and I went for a trip down to NYC while we lived in Ithaca. I believe it was St. Patrick's Day. I only remember because we got caught on the wrong side of Manhattan and couldn't get out while the parade was going on.

Yeah dad, ajmah is the Ami I spent half my time with from the years 5-21.

That is a great picture Ami, great capture of someone looking at art. It happens to be one of my favorite pictures of myself, and believe me, it's on a very short list (as good pictures of me come along once in a decade).

Yes, that was taken at the MOMA on St Patty's day, a very fun day we had. We also hit Serendipity 3 (one of Andy Warhol's favorite hang outs back in the day). Remember I got hit on by a drunk Irish guy on the subway that day? I was like, "I've now experienced a proper St. Patrick's Day".

Haha!! Hit by a drunk Irish guy on St. Patrick's Day!! That's hilarious! Yes, The Starry Night is a permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. SO excited to go and see it for myself, love that picture so much. Van Gogh was a genius.

That is a great picture of Em. When I was in Chicago a few years ago, the Art Institute had a special exhibit of Van Gogh and Gauguin paintings. I chose to go to the exhibit instead of hitting Navy Pier with the rest of my group.

And Amy I found out at Scout's birthday party why your whole family is going to New York. I believe I disowned you guys right on the spot. And I believe Rob said that Scott has to turn in his "man card".

Great picture Em. I would love to go to New York and check out the museums. I also love Broadway shows. So much culture for us to experience.

The American Idol Concert is not "why" we are going to NYC. It happened to be probably our favorite family vacation and we wanted to go back. The concert just happens to be there, too. We couldn't make the Salt Lake dates and looked for a good place to go. We have also always wanted to take the kids to Washington DC, so we are taking the train there to spend 4 days, too. We just got tickets to see "Lion King" while we are in NY and we're looking forward to that. We wanted one more great family vacation before Sarah moves out in August :(
Besides, "real men" aren't afraid to listen to Adam Lambert! He is so incredibly amazing! Scott is not ashamed to go. He was a little embarrassed to go to the first concert, but he actually has really liked them. And this year's top 4 is better than ever.
My wv is "naria". Maybe a name choice, Ems. Cross between "Rarnee" and "Maria"?

"Go for it, Amy" What a blessing to be able to take your fam on a great trip like that. Fun times, good memories and lasting feelings. You guys are the best and it has been a joy for Mom and I to see you so often and enjoy meals, games, laughs and fireworks these last 6 years. You and Scott are just great and generous.
