Sunday's With Sue

This is The Wright Family blog's 200th post!

The Princess Bride! Such a great movie! I had to add the picture of Andre the Giant. The peanut line is one of my favorite lines of the movie. I also like "Have fun storming the castle!" There were so many great quotes to choose from. Cam and I watched most of this last weekend on cable, I didn't know Cam liked this movie too.

I know you're all dying to find out who got the quote first. Get ready to hear some Conor Oberst, because it was Cat! Yay Cat! Matt was next, the Haley, then B, then Amy, the Em, then Jeanine, then Dad! I heard from everyone but Dan. I am very impressed at how many of you got it from the first quote. I didn't think that many of you would get it from the first one. I purposely chose a quote from the scene with the grandpa and the kid, because I thought it would be tough! I know Em is kicking herself over that. And Em, I probably will do some of the same movies twice, so you should have sent me your guess!

Here is this week's movie quote:

Bet you were thinking.....now why don't he write?

You didn't hear from me because I don't watch no foo foo princess movies!

(Actually, I have seen that movie and didn't totally hate it, but there's no way I'd remember many lines from it.)

Congrats Cat and everyone else!

Great Wright family movie classic. Foo foo princess movie? No way Jose! Just a good story and movie making. Sounds like sour grapes a bit there, Dan.
Way to go Cat.

I won't make that mistake again! Cat, did you send me a song list? I thought you did, but can't find a message like that in my inbox. If you did, can you tell me how you sent it?

Matt Wright said...

Errrrr. Good game Cat. I am glad I get to hear your song choices this week.

Not sour at all, George. The foo foo line was me just trying to be funny. I have a lot of friends who are always quoting lines from that movie, so I'm really not all that surprised that it would be a Wright classic. I guess I just never really took the chance after hearing all the buzz to give it another watch...

Haley said...

You really should, it is SO funny. Definitely a classic.

Yes I love that movie too. I am glad I finally got it. I watched it when it came out on a double date with Randy. So long ago! Fred Savage from wonder years was so cute. I love the guy who always said "INCONCIEVEABLE"! This weeks quote sounds familiar. Hopefully I will think of it or figure it out with Wed clue. Have a great week everyone!

Sue said...

hahaha Cat, I didn't think all of your songs would be Conor's! I'm surprised you haven't seen this movie a lot since you have a teenage daughter Dan. And, I would think that Lorri likes the movie too.

Cat said...

Hee Hee! I just didn't have a lot of time to devote to putting a more comprehensive playlist together, not being sure I would even win. But when I did see that, I was like, just put the whole Conor Oberst solo album on there. That'll do. It's pretty much all I'm listening to right now, so I thought I'd spread the joy! I'm a little sad that the entire album didn't make it, but I'm sure you'll survive.

Dan, I'm quite surprised that this movie isn't a favorite of yours. It's the best! I would highly recommend the book, too, to any of you readers out there. We read it in our book club a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. Good job, Cat!

Guess I'll be adding it to Netflix soon. As I said, I've seen it and have other friends besides you guys who all love it and quote parts of it, but maybe I was just distracted or something when I saw it and it didn't strike me as any kind of out of the ordinary funny. I forgot to ask Hope if she's seen it (she's now on a pioneer Trek out your way, Phisters).

Emily said...

Definitely worth revisiting Dan. It really is not a Princess movie(I don't watch Princesses either) it's kind of hard to describe what it is to tell you the truth. It's different that's for sure. Christopher Guest and Chris Sarandon are great. And Vizzini is such a great character, he kills me. If Hope hasn't seen it, you should watch it with her, she'd love it I'd bet.
SPEAKING of Princess movies, Rob and I (Rob last half) happened to watch Enchanted finally and-- what the bip? We would be very interested to know what you guys are talking about, we were at a loss.

Sue said...

Em, you need to explain your what the bip comment about Enchanted. What are you what the bipping about? What was everyone talking about? I'm confused.

Here is your Wednesday quote:

If it wasn't for my companion, I believe I'd be having the time of my life.

Good luck peeps! (that isn't part of the quote, it's from me.)

Amy said...

I'm a little confused about the Enchanted bip comment, too. Is it because we liked it and you didn't? Because Scott cried a tiny bit in one spot? and that Matt even ended up liking it, too? Help us out.

Neaners said...

I haven't seen Enchanted yet. I heard it was pretty good. I am clueless on this Wed clue:) Maybe it will hit me on Friday last ditch one. Take care!

Emily said...

Yes Aim, we need to know what part made Scott weepy and Matt just described it as having a certain something that made it really good and he liked it and is convinced anyone would. Sorry that comment was cryptic it was sort of aimed at Matt and that was all I was thinking when I posted it.

Cat, I just re read the comments on this post and had to smile a bit at your comment where you used the term, "spread the joy" whilst talking about sharing Conor Oberst songs.

Haley said...

My dad cried at the part when she leaves and is saying goodbye to the little girl, he got a little emotional at that! Hee hee, such a softy. So Marcus and I heard that it was a good movie and went and saw it at the dollar theater here when it came out and at the beginning we were like, "what the bip are we watching?!" We were seriously embarrassed to even be at the theater watching it. And then we realized that is was over the top to be funny and we really liked it! We thought it was hilarious!

I watched Enchanted after Matt gushed all about it. I didn't get it. It just seemed a cute little nothing movie with a few feel good parts, but nothing really special. That's what nice about movies and our family.. "To each his (her) own" I quit Transpotting after 10 minutes and sent it back to Netflix that night. Just couldn't force myself to endure more of it. Yet I like Waterworld and The Postman and the Last Samari that most of you hate or would hate if you watched them. Movies are a personal thing like music.
I think I got the SWS movie of the week after the Wedns. hint. Good job, Sue I have probabally seen the movie 10 or 12 times, but the first hint doesn't ring any bell for me. Wierd! Matt took the computer to Utah with him so I only have this one at work so I have been away for awhile.

Amy said...

Most movies make Scott cry a little now. He's getting a little soft in his old age! It's so funny. I think most of it has to do with being the father of 4 girls and they are growing up! Haley's explanation was good and pretty right on. It was over the top princessy. I had heard it was good and talked the family into going one night. After the first 10 min. I looked over and apologized profusely. We stuck it out and we actually liked it. We have watched it a few more times and it gets even better. But it's not a deep movie or anything. Just enjoyable. Did you hate it, Ems?

Neaners said...

I think we all get soft in our old age Amy. I am much more sentimental and also realize the meaning in things with life experience. I definitely need to see it just to relate to what you saw in it. I do agree with Uncle G that movies are personal to all of us and we definitely have ecclectic tastes.

Amy said...

I think you'll like this one, Jeanine. Amy Adams was great and Patrick Dempsey's not so bad either! You'll like it.

Sue said...

I think I will pass on Enchanted. Dad I really didn't mean for you to check out Trainspotting when I mentioned it. 10 minutes is all you could take huh?

Here is the Friday quote:

Dunbar. Not Dumb Bear.

Pops said...

Wow! Anyone that has seen the movie should get it from that last quote. One always thinks that when they know the answer. Some are still blanko like me most of the time. Yeah, Sue, 10 or 12 minutes is all I could take. I started to like it and then it just wore me out. I teach my Sunday School lesson on the Word of Wisdom Sunday. I think I'll show a clip from that movie. hahahahaha. That will wake up the old duffers.

Amy said...

I must not have seen it then, cause I'm totally stumped!

Sue said...

Trainspotting is a very good movie, but it is very intense. I think every person who even had the slightest inclination to try heroin should watch it.

I picked what I thought would be an obvious quote for Friday, because I was tired of hearing the crickets chirping in my SWS inbox.

Emily said...

I must confess-- I'm still stumped.

Neaners said...

Me too. I have no idea on this movie. Hope I can get the next one. Take care!
