Sunday's With Sue

Whoo hoo! Dances With Wolves! I am going to let you all in on a little secret. I picked this movie, knowing Dad would get it first, so we could hear his playlist this week. And my little plan worked! Dad guessed first, then Dan, and that was it! Haley guessed Raising Arizona, not a bad guess Haley, but it was wrong. And I'm sorry Dad, I still haven't seen this movie. You loaned me a VHS copy, but when I was up for watching it, our VHS player died on me. I'll have to get that back to you, and I promise one of these days I'll rent the DVD and watch it. And Happy Father's Day Dad! What a nice gift winning Sunday's With Sue must be.

Here is this week's movie quote:

He said on my death bed I would achieve total conciousness, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Thanks, Sue, for throwing me a soft ball on this one. I am a Costner fan (The Untouchables, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Tin Cup) and many more. Dances is one of my top five favorites. The unexpected humor of the indians, the great cineography (sp?) the story, the love, the animals...just a neat movie. SEE IT SUE! Thanks for the fathers day gift and I hope you are not too disapointed in the song play list. Just stuff I like. Sort of mainstream, but that's who I am.

Hmm a little dirty, but I suppose I too would have been curious of dad's playlist.
Tommy the Cat befuddles me a little, I am surprised he can hear any of the words.

Congrats dad and hope you had a great father's day!

Say bayba!

Way to go George! As you say, a great flick! One of Lor's and my favorites, as well. That last clue was a dead giveaway but I'm still not all that certain of the context of the other two quotes from earlier in the week. Do you know who said them and in what scenes?

Looking forward to seeing/hearing your music choices this week!

Dan: John Dunbar was writing in his journal on the trip to the outpost. The crude mule driver was the campanion he complained about. It was a naration. I don't have a clue what the first hint quote was all about and of course the friday hint was a giveaway. Good movie. Love epics.

Ems: course I can't hear much of the words in Tommy The Cat, but I dig the beat and the bass guitar. Les Claypol (that wright, Matt?) is a wonder!

That is not Queen singing that song. Holy lame. Who is that???

Emily said...

That is the only song I didn't listen to at least for a minute before adding. I just listened and it could be Queen, just a different live version or something. I still only listened for about a minute. I could be wrong. I can try and find the original studio version.
I found it funny that there was only one Brooklyn Roads available on playlist and it only said "artist" no credit to Neil D.

That version of "We Are the Champions" sounds like the live concert at Wembely Stadium in England by Queen. Just a quess as I am not the definitive guy on rock and roll. Rock on!

Haley said...

Well it might be Queen but that is definitely not Freddy Mercury. Oh well. Haha.

Emily said...

Dad, the fact that you can even make a guess as to which concert that is from blows my mind.

Nice music picks Dad. Remember when Neil wiped away the fake tear after singing Brooklyn Roads? And I didn't know you were such a Queen fan.

Em, I don't think it's dirty playing at all. If I had picked a movie that only dad would have known, that would be. But I figured most everyone has seen Dances with Wolves and there was a good chance Dad would get it first.

W.V. should be for Susan...pertsu.....cool, huh! Thanks again, Sue, for making my fathers day. Good food, hearts and winning the sws. Can't beat that! Who's Freddy Mercury? I guess I can't fake being a Queen know-it-all. hehehe I think I can put on five fingers the names of rock stars and not all of them which band they play for.... Axle Rose? Mick Jagger, stones. Kieth Richards ? thats about it.. I know a lot more jazz pianest and trumpet players if anyone cares.

Sweet. I'm jammin' to Primus right now. Good job Dad. I gave Dad this movie on DVD last fathers day, turned out he had already bought it a few weeks earlier.
I don't think I have ever seen it all the way through. The only memory I really have of it is laughing at Kevin Costners naked butt.
I gained a lot more respect for B Saturday night when she read the last hint quote and said "it sounds like a Kevin Costner line to me" And she was wright.
But... she just lost all of that respect when the Primus song ended and the BeeGee's came on and she asked, "is this Primus too?"

W.V. CARGICAK hehe I like it.

Congrats George! I do like this movie too. The buffalo and cinematography was great. The friendship he developed with the indians was so great. Glad u had a nice Father's Day. You definitely are a good one and grandfather too.

I just watched the new movie on DVD Passengers. It stars Anne Hathaway and she was awesome. Saw her in Rachel's Getting Married. She is now not typecast as the Princess. It is about airline crash survivors and it has a great twist. Very enjoyable. Sort of classifies as a Thinking movie too. Recommend it to everyone.
Have a good week.

The comment, "is this Primus too?" is awesome.

"Is this Primus too" will go down in the history of Wright Family lore wright near the top...Awesome, B, you are the best! Thanks Matt, for that tidbit. Mom and I saw "Proposal" last night. Not too bad for a chick flick. A lot better than most of them lately.

I added a less controversial version of We are the Champions.

Haley said...

Hehe controversial.

Matt Wright said...

Yeah, that other queen song was so bad I couldn't even listen to it! Seriously! And I think Haley was right, I don't think it was even Queen or Mercury at all.

Mercury is actually a pretty good name for a girl too... I like it.

Here is your Wednesday quote:

I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff's gonna come down for quite some time now.

Pops said...

I am going to miss hearing my playlist. No clue on the current movie.

I think I did answer it right on first quote. I have to give you some not so nerdy music in case I win. LOL.
