Thanksgiving Festivities

We all need to talk about Thanksgiving, so I figured this was as good a place as any to discuss plans. We have all kind of discussed having a big get together this year in Wyoming, being especially important if Dave comes out. What a rare treat to have all 7 Wright brothers and sisters together for Thanksgiving! Anyone know when the last time that happened? Or even the last time we were all in the same room together?
Anyway, we have also discussed recreating the fun we had last year of all going up to Wyoming to watch Twilight together- bet we can get dad to go this year (now that he's read the books).
I would like to add one more festivity into the mix-- Amy and I discussed this when I went up there last weekend, and I have now gotten the go ahead. Anyway, we were discussing good sundays to get Elinor blessed, and one of the only possibilities was Thanksgiving weekend. Our plans for Thanksgiving were complicated, since a few of Rob's siblings usually only come out for Thanksgiving, and go somewhere else for Christmas, our one chance to see them over the holidays is gone if we leave, and especially this year- everyone wants to meet Elinor. We decided we would need to divide our time between Utah and Wyoming, spending Wed, thurs, and fri morning in one place, and the weekend with the other. Rob was leaning towards spending the first part in Wyoming, and then driving home early Fri and the rest with his fam. I was ok with that as long as we could fit New Moon in on Wed. Anyways, after Amy and I talked, doing the blessing that weekend made more and more sense- most of Rob's family would be around too. Amy is willing to drive anyone of her family that would like to go, out that Saturday (it would be a quick trip of course, but- eh). Mom and dad can make it too. Anyway, we got the ok from our bishop to do the blessing that week, so looks like it is (tentatively) on.

Here's what we need to discuss:

1. Is everyone planning on making it out to Wyoming for Thanksgiving? (Sue, I don't think I have heard you say one way or another, so I wasn't sure).

2. For everyone that is planning on going, it looks like everyone may be hauling out early, so if you were planning on staying out there until Sun, you may be lonely.

3. Can everyone that is interested in the "New Moon experience" make it out there in time for a movie on Wed night? If not, I suppose we can discuss possibly doing it on Sat night now in Salt Lake... Haley, that could throw a major wrench in your plans since I am thinking you weren't able to make it to Utah for the blessing.

4. Anyone interested in attending Elinor's blessing, our church starts at 9:00 am.

Discuss.

I'm down with everything you discussed, Ems, especially the "New Moon" experience. Mom is likely to have to work that Saturday and we will be late getting to SLC. We would miss a Saturday movie. I personally don't know why we couldn't see the dog movie on Thursday night. It's not a religious holiday. The quick trip is a pain, but wouldn't miss the Elinor blessing.

I don't know if I could make a Wed. night movie. I won't be able to leave until Booker gets out of school that day. I'm with Dad, we could go on Thurs.

DUH!!! I am surprised that thought never crossed my mind! Going to a movie on Christmas is one of my favorite things to do. A perfect resolve to a sticky problem.
Dog movie. Hee hee, you're as bad as Edward.

It all sounds good to me. I'm sure that some of us wouldn't mind seeing the movie twice! We hope everyone can come. You Wotherspoons out there are more than welcome to come to Wyoming to for a fun Thanksgiving! We would love to have you. Might be a little more realistic for Dan & Lorri's family, if you don't have big plans.
By the way, I know the last time I saw Dave was at your wedding, Em, but I don't think Ben was there. So, I really don't remember the last time. Maybe a Christmas many years ago. Has anyone heard from Dave?

I'm glad you invited them Aim, I KNEW you would and I was close to doing it about three times while writing the post, but didn't want to be presumptuous about inviting people to your house. I left it up to you to do it, knowing you would.
Yes, Ben was unable to attend my wedding, so it was before that some time long long ago.

I'm pretty much open to anything, although it depends on my work schedule. I don't know when I will have to work around Thanksgiving. The movie sounds fun, whenever we decide to see it. Thanksgiving day is fine with me.

Thanks for the invite Moses! Wow! Are you sure? If so, we would love to crash the party. It's been quite a few years since our last jaunt your way.

We'll call you in the next couple of days to chat about possibilities.

That would be so great if you guys came out! We'll have to play Abstracts. You can come see New Moon with us Dan and you will be all fresh and starry eyed after just having finished the book!

I wonder if Dan is going to be Team Edward, Team Jacob or Team Switzerland? Or like Dad and be Team Alice, hee hee.

Pops said...

Yea, Team Alice, that's me, however I do like the dogs.

Where is Sue? I better check the obits.

Of course I mean it Dan! I thought I even mentioned it before, but must not have. We would love it if you came!

Cam and I are planning on coming out. I will vote for a SLC screening. Cam isn't going to want to see it, I don't think he even knows they exist. I don't want to ditch him in WY and go see a movie.

He can hang out with Rob, Rob will not go see it no way, no how. He has to baby sit the kids anyway.

The Tooele Wotherspoons are very happy to invade (and see the movie, I think). THANK YOU!

Amy said...

YAY!! We're so excited. We'll have to make jello with red hots to bring back old Thanksgiving memories! ;)

Cat said...

If Travis comes, he may opt out as well. So Cam will have some company sounds like.

I'm not sure if Marcus will go or not, I'm sure he would like to see it but might wait. Someone has to watch Allison! I'll ask him. So there will be people at the house still. Yay! Glad the Wotherspoons are coming! This is going to be a very fun Thanksgiving! Someone needs to drag Dave up so we can get a picture of all you Wright kids together!!!

Pops said...

Yea! the spoons are coming. Hearts game on the side with a tripolie game in the middle contuinuous. (sp)
Okay for laughs someone make a jello with redhots set around a pineapple ring with a banana in the middle with a red cherry on top. Maybe that was for christmas dinner? Runny pumpkin pie, maybe.

Sounds like you will all have a great time. Wish I lived closer. Oh well. It was nice to see Em,Cat and Ben and little Elinor. Can't wait to see pictures! I will try to make it out in late Spring or early Summer to Wyoming. Uncle George said they have flights to RIverton from SLC and I wouldn't have to rent a car.

I vote for New Moon on Thursday night!! This is going to be a fantastic holiday...

Pops said...

Sorry Jeanine, there are no flights from SLC to Riverton. The only service is from Denver and to Denver. It would be fun to have you part of this wild party we are going to have.
