So this week we have an unprecedented event here on the blog. Ami Hart a "relative" -pun intended- outsider got it first! This is fitting, as I have probably seen this movie with Ami more then I have seen it without her. In second place we have another interesting development- Alex "Spoon" Wotherspoon came in second. In the meantime, I had guesses coming in, some totally wrong, others trying to get away with just saying "Indiana Jones" in these cases I had to tell them they must be more specific. --Both came back with a wrong guess. After the Wednesday clue, Cat knew right away it was not Temple of Doom, it was The Last Crusade- so Cat was next. Then B guessed wright on her first try late in the week and that's it!
So peeps, what do we do? I'm inclined to give Ami her win and have her do the next post- but she isn't an administrater and further more, does she know what constitutes a "Wright Classic"? In second place with Alex -who, by the way, I had no idea you read the blog Alex, I was pleasantly surprised to get a guess from you!- we run into the same problems. I personally believe that we have pretty much surpassed "Wright Classics" and are down to movies that many of us have enjoyed that are just good movies. So I don't see that as being a problem, the permission to post however is a hairier ordeal. We can always grant temporary (or permanent) privileges I'm sure to either or both of them. I don't know- why don't I ask what the two in question think? Congrats by the way guys! It's fun to have some new blood on here. Bring on the competition!
**By the way, I'd like to point out that Ami did that with pregnancy brain x2! Even more impressive!**

I'm pretty sure Alex is now a fully constituted TKWAW blogger and should be added. I definitely have not seen this movie enough to be able to get the quotes but I have seen it. Dang. I agree that we should just do movies that are well known and not necessarily have to be a "wright classic."
Congrats Ami and Spoon! I have seen this but can't remember a dang thing about it. Oh well!
I know Alex has been watching the blog for quite a while and I've been hoping he'd start posting comments here and there, so maybe this will be a good boost toward that. Always glad to have Ami join in with stuff, too, so cool with me if she wants to do this week's WTB. Em, do ask them to see what they'd like to do (as long as they promise to post a movie I know well this week!)
Yay! I won!! I think I've seen this movie more with Emily than I have without her as well.
As I have no idea what movies the rest of this crowd is into, I hereby cede any posting responsibility to Alex/Spoon. I really didn't intend to crash the party here, I just got so excited because, for once, I actually knew the quote wright away. So, thanks for letting me play, but I think I'll stick to being a spectator.
Ami
P.S. I think pregnancy brain enhances one's capacity to recall useless trivia. I think it gave me an advantage!
I would like to argue that point, as my winnings went WAY down whilst preggo with Elles.
I just sent Alex a invitation to be an author. Very gracious of you Ami...
Alex-- send me a playlist of songs you would like to have playing on the blog this week and I will make it happen to the best of my abilities.
You don't like country do you? I suppose that if you do there is always a mute button on my computer :)
Waytogo, Spoon/Alex and Ami. Good movie choice, Ems, but I just saw it once and the quotes did not ring any bells or whips. I'm glad to have Alex join the peeps. What's wrong with Country music? A little twang, twang to break up the Radiohead works for me.
Anything to break up the Radiohead...haha. Just kidding :) Many artists and music are considered country...such as your beloved Neil Young.
Well, all in all- not bad Alex (only about 2 songs made my ears actually spew blood) and some were downright good.
Obviously, you guys have not noticed nor appreciated the break I have given you with the RH! I only sneak one or two into my playlists these days. It's like casting pearls to swine....
I also have never heard Neil's music referred to as "country".
Rock a billy, certainly. Country? I say no. I have also been known to enjoy a Johnny Cash or a Patsy Cline song now and then. Some may call Buddy Holly a little country and I allow him into my music library too. That's it so far.
Eagles have been called country, too. Any of their songs work for you, Em?
I used to be a HUGE Eagles fan in high school and would also call them Rock a billy. I think country is a little strong of a term for them, but some songs might cross that line I admit. I have zero interest in them these days. I used to listen to A LOT of classic rock, but I think I got really sick of it or something and listen to very very little the last 10 years or so. A little Pink Floyd now and then is desirable but little else. I also wouldn't kick The Guess Who out of bed (figuratively speaking).
I gave Alex and Ami a win on the board this week.
Country is a pretty blanket term. There are a lot of different types of country music. Some of it I down right can't stand. Generally I like it though. Not my first choice but I can listen to it now and again. Haha about the spewing blood!!!
Amen to the mute button and Crystal Skull not being counted. I knew it was Harrison Ford from the first quote, but I didn't know which movie. Then I couldn't remember which Indiana Jones was which... I knew it had was the third one with Sean Connery, but couldn't remember the title. It's been years since I've seen anything except the opening scene... maybe I should borrow it from Alex!
Other than Desperado and Best of My Love, the Eagles are just nostalgic now for me, too. Nothing else on any of my regular playlists, though I still love them in concert (went just last year here in SLC). Em, what about John Denver?
Oh man Em, I was just enjoying my playlist and noticed that the Living End song is a terrible cover and does not even come close to doing the song justice. I checked playlist.com and theres a good copy there. If it's not a big inconvenience it would be cool if you could change it.
Also about my playlist- there was a handful of my faves that were not available on the site, bummer. Contrary to what you might think I'm really not a huge country music fan. I mean I dig alot of it but there is also alot that I cannot stand. But after your comment about it I just had to throw in some twangy stuff. If you pay attention and actually LISTEN to "Good Directions" It tells a good little story.
I knew I was going to be really bad at this end of the movie game. I could picture Harrison Ford saying the lines, just couldn't figure out what movie it was from. Crystal Skull was so bad that Cam was actually angry when the movie was over.
And people call Neil Young country? Seriously? I've never heard that.
I had a feeling those little twangy nuggets were for me and I should have just kept my mouth shut.
I will check with playlist and do my best to fix the coversong Alex.
Haley-- I think we look at music a bit differently because in my mind country is not a blanket term, it is in most cases very specific for me. For the record I still call it country when Faith Hill or someone else makes a "pop" song and gets on the pop charts. It still sounds and feels like country to me. Call me close minded I honestly don't care. I even decided years ago perhaps I was not giving it a chance (I had too many Idaho roommates that kept telling me that they used to hate country too until they really listened to it and then they started to like it.) So I really actually gave it a shot for a little while, tried to open my mind and really try. My conclusion after that little experiment? I hate everything about it- I really do, and that is an educated opinion now.
I still love you country music listeners out there, I just can't stomach the stuff.
Except again, I don't mind the 50's stuff, I don't spend much time listening to it, but I can see a little charm there, but the charm for me didn't not live past those pioneers of country music. I think the stuff your grandma and grandpa Phister sing is cute and charming also.
Love The Last Crusade! Didn't we see that on the last day of 6th or 7th grade? I think Ami's mom took us that day and then several more times that weekend. It was that movie and The Cutting Edge that we couldn't stop going to.
I just recently saw a snippet of The Crystal Skull and that is all I care to ever see. It was HORRIBLE! I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist or maybe that it was just a spoof. Spencer and I were discussing it and wondering how Steven Spielberg got to that point from the earlier Indiana Jones movies and Jaws and all those other greats. Sad sad sadness.
Way to go Ami on getting it first!
The Crystal Skull sucked rocks. Take it from someone who has seen it.
