WTB Wratt Might

Yay! I've never even really seen this movie. I just know Scott always quotes it. It was way fun last year sometime when a lot of us (Cath, Em, and Sue) got together at the Phisters and fast forwarded through the movie and watched the good parts. That is probably our only experience with the movie for the most part. B's sister watched it like everyday growing up. Surprised B didn't get it. Dad is the true champion here though... Got to give him credit. Props to Pops. That was cool of you to let us play while you live it up in the sun. Glad you don't have to get up in the mornings and plow snow anymore for a while.

Here is the new one...

"I'd like a double turkey sandwich on rye, a side order of fries, one of those large knockwurts, 3 bags of potato chips, a chocolate milk and 2 beers, why don't you have a beer? three beers! Thank you"

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it...

This music rules.

Anybody taking a liking, or disliking to any of it?

Matt Wright said...

Fine. By the end of the week you will be so into it. hehe.

Only 2 guesses so far...

Haha! I like it but haven't had a chance to hear it much. I'll get back to you on that. :)

I protest none of it so far, but have spent little time on here, I'll give it a serious go tomorrow and give my opinionated opinion.

I've been liking most of it but have been wanting to totally give it all a careful listen, too.

Dig the Citizen Cope. Not my favorite B.E. song. WTB is up with that fleet foxes? I no likey. Band of horses is good as well as Teagan and Sarah.

Not too shabby for the most part.

Alex: That Fleet Foxes song stood out to me once and I just dig it man. I don't know what it is. SO different and beautiful. Gives me the chills even. Yeah, Band Of Horses are superb. I had to put The Great Salt Lake on there, not only because of it's Utah reference, but because it has that line about not liking country music. hehe. Glad you like Tegan & Sarah. I feel like I am taking a big risk putting that on here. I love their sound, and I wouldn't normally like whiney girls. (either does Emily. Can't wait to hear her opinionated opinion. Be nice...)
I'm surprised you didn't like the Bright Eyes song. The sound isn't emo at all and I love the chorus that accompanies him. Awesome cute/true to life lyrics too. Give it another listen. (in my- tell you what to do like Alex always does voice. hehe)

The Champs Elysees was for B. French Punk baby.

So far: I've liked everything, but didn't give it as good a go as I'd have liked to. I was a house cleaning machine yesterday and then had to watch lost.
That is my favorite Bright Eyes song I've heard thus far.

WEDNESDAY HINT QUOTE

"As a younger man, I was a sculptor, a painter, and a musician. There was just one problem: I wasn't very good. As a matter of fact, I was dreadful. I finally came to the frustrating conclusion that I had taste and style, but not talent. I knew my limitations. We all have our limitations. Fortunately, I discovered that taste and style were commodities that people desired. What I am saying is: know your limitations. You are a moron."

Alright.......giddy up--

Champs Elysees- I've heard before and like

Citizen Cope- So far in my listens I could take it or leave it. Doesn't stick out as anything too special (this is subject to change).

I Bleed - I like

White Winter Hymnal- I like

Make a Plan - yummy

I Know etc. - I don't hate the angry lesbian stuff as much as you think I do (or I've let on) - this song's ok.

Band of Horses - not my favorite, has a sort of 80's feel (especially the ghost one) and I have a bone to pick with the 80's at the moment. I wasn't ready for the style to come back and I am having an especially hard time with it this week. So all things that remind me of the 80's are currently rubbing me the wrong way. Maybe check with me in a few weeks.

I'm sticking with you - always up for a random velvet underground sample. Lou Reed rules.

On another note- I'm still currently obsessed with that Arcade Fire mix you made me and am having a hard time listening to anything else at present.

Sweet report Em! Glad you like! Tegan & Sarah are really great angy lesbo song writers for sure. The music makes up for any slight annoyance the voice is to me. Which, it kind of is a LITTLE bit. I think it bugged Haley a little once upon a time. I can understand that.
Citizen Cope... Man, I don't know, to me it is way different. It's not hip hop to me. Not rap either. I can't even put my finger on it. The piano's, the strings, the clapping, the solid beat, and his unique voice that sounds like he is missing a few teeth and sounds EXACTLY like this kid I know at Riverton skate park, all combined make for some tasty tracks.
Yeah, Arcade Fire gets better and better and better and better. It's like an experience more than music sometimes. Haha. Sounds lame but it's true.

I love the end of Sticking With You. It's like the whole beginning is just this crazy goof off song, then it just turns into something perfect. Way cool.

"I wanna be a singer like Lou Reed, I LIKE LOU READ!! She said, sticking her tongue in my ear" -Pixies- Ive been tired

I've ended up liking almost all of it. The one I don't like (yet) that Em likes is "I Bleed."

Thanks for continuing to expand my musical horizons, Matt.

BTW, Tegan and Sarah are playing in SLC on April 6 6th. Here is link to tix: http://smithstix.com/events/item/root/teganandsara

Far as I know April 6th has a rival for Matt. I pegged Citizen Cope as Reggae in my head. Great Salt Lake sounds a little less 80s to me today.

Matt's been turning me into a Pixies fan for a few months now, sending me cds. So I was already familiar with this one. FYI: Rob HATES Debaser. Just a little fun fact. Me likey.

Matt Wright said...

I'd say... April 6th is my birthday and it is crazy for concerts this year! Tegan & Sarah, Spoon, and Citizen Cope are all playing in different spots. If I went to one it would be Spoon I think though. That would be B's main pick too. I would love to see B see Spoon.

Citizen Cope doesn't sound Reggae to me. No up-beat/off beat thing. I hate that "Mr. Officer" is cut off at the end on here.

Pixies are an acquired taste Dan. But some just don't like them all together. Me? Favorite band. Not for the lyrics though, that's for sure.

I didn't know T&S were angry lesbos. Don't really like that. Haha. Love their music though. Still haven't had a chance to listen to the music much. I'm starting to like the Pixies more but they are still bizarre.

It's already Friday??

"Fellas, last year I made 3 million dollars, but your 50 thousand was the most fun. Are you ready? Then let's go get 'em."

Dan W said...

NO frickin' clue! Oh well...

I do need a win SOON though!

Emily said...

OK, Dan- if you haven't seen this movie that is a CRIME!!!! I can't imagine you have seen it though if you didn't get it with that last line. It's possible I suppose, but really hard to believe. Also hard to believe that you haven't seen this.....hmmm. I'll be interested to hear the result, that's for sure. Also- you do need to win! Where did my formidable opponent go?

Maybe you are pregnant....

Haley- I don't have the first clue if these girls are homosexual. "Angry Lesbian" is a genre of music (maybe not an "official" one, but it is one, believe me).

Emily said...

Ok, I just wiki'ed them and yep, they're lesbians. (Sad that's so predicable.)
They are also identical twins, which I found pretty neat.

Haley said...

Hopefully they aren't lesbians together then. That would be disturbing. I also think it is a crime if Dan hasn't seen this one, so classic!! Love this movie!

Dan W said...

Wow, if it's this big a classic, I'm going to mad, then, cuz I still ain't even sniffing it. Weird.

Maybe it isn't the actual pregnancy that does it, just fat bellyness?! (I guess that wouldn't be it, though, because mine has been this fat for a while now, even during SWS. Oh well, no excuse for me, dang it....)
