BOOK LIST?

Alex gave Matt this book for him to read. I found it in Matts' office and looked at it and it had stamped inside "from the library of Daniel W. Wotherspoon". I remembered how I read it in the early 70s and how it was an influence on me. I knew of Richard Bach. He was a writer for Flying Magazine that I read monthly when I was learning to fly and had those airplanes back in the 60s.

What this is about: Where are we on the "book list"? I included J. L. Seagull on my list as a book that had an influence on my life. It looks like it had some meaning to Dan. It will be fun to see the lists published.

I've read this book, too, and enjoyed it. I especially enjoy the soundtrack to the movie as it was recorded by our very own, Neil Diamond.

Sorry about that, I totally have dropped the KWAW Book list. The list I was to compile it, I had something else for church or something come up and take all the time I would have used for the list and then it slipped out of my radar and thoughts. I am a bit busy the next few days but should be able to put it together within a week, so WATCH FOR IT!

B and Cat- I never did hear from either of you, so I suppose if you want to be represented, submit any entries in the next few days.

Yes JLS was an awesome book and had me pretty excited in my mid-teens especially. Love any of that "be your own self" even if it means breaking free from the crowd stuff, and also ideas that point toward transcending current ideas and limits. I have re-read it a few times since, as well as Bach's book Illusions (which you may enjoy, George, as it's setting is a couple of barnstormers who go around the midwest giving rides in bi-planes). Its new-ageyness gets too much for me in some spots, but it is still worth a look, I think. Not quite as short as JLS but still just and hour or two read total.

I also love the soundtrack Amy. Can't remember the movie at all, though. Was it really stupid?

I don't remember a lot about it, but not terribly impressed.

Oh, Dan, I read the Book Thief and really liked it. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm reading "Immortal Wife" by Irving Stone and I'm really liking it, too. It is a biographical novel about Jessie Benton Fremont, wife of John C. Fremont. It's our Book Club read for the summer and was selected because we reside in Fremont County (named after him--also Scott's business carries his name as well). It's very well written and makes me want to read more by I. Stone like "The Agony and the Ecstasy". I'm excited for the book list, Em.

Glad you liked Book Thief. Definitely one of my favorites in the past several years. Crazy sad and triumphant at same time--mark of brilliance.

Haven't read any Irving Stone. I'll check his stuff out.
