WTB Movie

I just love this movie. I see it all the time on cable and own two copies. The story, the acting and the message must just talk to me. And then Emily tells me she has never seen the movie. Unbelievable! I have the urge to go down there and slap her face. How could anyone not have seen this top 10 best ever movie. Oh, well, her loss. Ems guessed the movie by the last famous quote this morning. "If you build it he will come". James Earl Jones is great. I could go on and on.
Our Haley hit it out of the park again. She was first in a tight fight. Jeanine was just an hour and a half after Haley and Dan was a half hour behind Neaners. Sorry, Jeanine, I wanted to see you have a win. Way to go, Haley. You are on a roll. Matt guessed it after fridays give away clues.

Sorry about the small picture. I am using google images. I tried about 10 different images and tried to get the bigest and did all that I could think of and not a one came in larger that this one. What am I doing wrong? Any help out there? In comments I'll tell you about my morning if you are interested.

You may or not know that we have had some fooding this week. Our rivers are peeked with runoff from the snow in the mountains. A road bridge washed out and some priviate bridges are gone in the Lander area. About 200 houses are effected and the citizens are helping fill sandbags and trying to protect some property. The National guard has some troops in our county helping. Anyway, this morning the Govenor and his wife flew in to our airport in the state jet. An Air Guard King Air flew in with some Guard brass and our one Congress woman. One of our two Senators and his wife flew in in another plane (Burasso) sp. This was all before 8 am. There was about 25 people fall together with some Homeland Security people and local police and emergency people. They all gathered in my fire station and had a briefing and then got on a bus and toured the flooding area for about three hours. The Blackhawk helo did not come. It has been raining hard for two days and it rained all morning hard.

I thought it was pretty cool that they all came and did this. I am impressed that it wasn't a photo op. There was no press or raido or TV. Very under the radar, which as you know is unusual for polititions. Yea, Wyoming.

That's pretty cool, Dad. I can't believed it rained so much after all this. It's so sad for the people effected. We saw lots of snow on South Pass today. Crazy mid-June weather!

Wow so much rain! We had a little last week too and now just the opposite in the low 90's. I blame some of the strange weather on global warming.
Yes I was disappointed that I didn't win. Gosh Haley you are fast because I think I responded within 2 hours of the posting. I love the movie so much. Definitely one I watch over and over. Em I am shocked too that you haven't seen it. Rent it for sure.
Anyway, have a good week everyone. I will get one someday:)

Em - I'm rather shocked you haven't seen it as well! It really is a great movie. Kevin Costner should have just stopped with this one though, because he's rotten in everything else I've seen him in. This one, however, is the tops. If you need further support for a viewing, Alex loves it too. You could also read the book first, which I think is called "Shoeless Joe." If I recall, Alex quite liked that as well.

Whoo, whao!! a little support for my boy Costner. He has made a few stinkers, but the Untouchables and Dancing with Wolves are great films and Kevin did very well in them. Thats just my opinion..

Sorry, Neaners, but man made global warming is a crock of %#&@.

Okay, George. I've never actually seen Untouchables (which actually preceded Field of Dreams, so that doesn't count). And he did OK in Dances With Wolves... but Robinhood? Seriously, what was up with his accent (and hair)? Message in a Bottle? Waterworld? The Bodyguard? I don't even know what to say about those.

Perhaps he can actually act a little, but if that's the case, he ceased choosing credible scripts shortly after Field of Dreams.

All that being said, I thought he was made for this role. I can think of no one who would have fit the part and done it as well. Plus, who can argue with James Earl Jones in his role too. Actually, who can argue with James Earl Jones in any of his roles?

Okay, Ajmah. No arguement from me about the films you noted. Robinhood, the Bodyguard et.al. were pretty bad. Silverado was good but that was early. See the Untouchables however. It is one of the best ever movies and Sean Connery is in it and NeNero. Neat movie. I am with you all the way regarding J.E. Jones. He and (whats his name, Elliott) have the best voices in filmdom.

Kevin Costner is just some sort of under the radar actor in my eyes. He blends into the background or something to me- perhaps I just haven't seen many of his movies but the ones I have, I haven't found him to be at all memorable. I really don't think I ever saw Robin Hood (please don't shoot me). If I saw it now, it would just be to see Alan Rickman (isn't he the sheriff?) The Untouchables is a great movie but all I really remember is Sean Connery and DeNiro- (does he play Capone?) it's been a while but I feel like his role was more cameo then anything.

Guess I better see Field of Dreams. Do you recommend reading it or watching it first?

Also- I don't want to open up a can of worms or anything but dad, do you believe in green house gasses at all? Really just curious....

I think Costner is likable and never messes up any roles he plays, which I think means he's a good actor. I just haven't seen him in anything that seems a stretch for him. Dances with Wolves is an amazing film and since it was his project, I think we have to give him credit for being more than just a pretty boy with a winning way. Recently, I finally saw Swing Vote on one of the cable channels, and I have to say I liked it a lot more than I thought I would--and Costner is quite good in it.

This sentence is me saying I'm going to stay out of any global warming areas of this thread....

I agree with Dan here on global warming and on Kevin Costner. I loved Dances with Wolves and Field of Dreams. Didn't like Waterworld, but I don't think it mattered who was in that movie, it was stupid. Haven't seen Untouchables. But, overall I like Kevin Costner.

I promoted "the Untouchables" last year. I'll do it again...it is a must see for anyone who hasn't seen it. Great story, acting, action and sadness and laughter. The filming was also special. Remember the scene of the shootout at the train station on the stairs with the child in the baby carraige? Classic! See it, peeps.

I love trees converting CO2 to O2. But I would't be supprised that the volcano in Iceland spit out more gas and polluntants in to the atmosphere than all the industries in the world for the last 5 years. I'll start believing global warming when San Jose is under sea water.

I love Field of Dreams, definitely see it Em. So political talk probably isn't the best but I agree with Gramps. I think that pollutants are definitely bad for the environment but "global warming" is a crock of crap scheme for people to make money. Just my opinion but we probably shouldn't get into this on here. :)

Pops said...

Haley: Love it! You and others think "but we probably shouldn't git into this on here" and then you give your opinion.. haha. However you are wright, we probably shouldn't get into this on here...don't want to polarize the peeps. I love the land and want clean air and water. I don't however think it is right or fair to tax (fine) some poor guy with a machine shop trying to make a living if he uses a few kilowatts of electricity over some standard the creeps in Washington made up and they have never set foot in a machine shop. Cap and Trade will kill the economy and free market society. Just me and my opinion.

Still no clue as to the movie of the week....wtb?

How did you miss Field of Dreams Em? That seems really weird to me. I saw it tons of times growing up. Or maybe I only saw it a few times and it just stuck with me... I don't know. Good movie though. His wife is so funny in it. She has some awesome lines. I love when she sticks up for herself in that town meeting and comes out of the school throwing punches all hyper and stuff. Awesome.
