Happy Mother's Day, Mom!!

(I have only a very few pics of mom on my computer and you can't steal photos to download on facebook anymore.......SO if anyone has any good pics of mom, feel free to post them here)

I just wanted to wish mom (Jane) a happy mother's day today! She is kind of the matriarch of The Kids Were All Right, in addition, she is or has been a mother figure at one point or another to most people that participate in this blog, so I thought this was appropriate. Plus, she deserves a big cyber mother's day shout out.

I thought maybe we could share a story or something or just say something nice about her in the comments andor let her know what she means to us.

She's warm and funny and always quick to let us know when we make her proud.

I remember back in elementary school when Mom would often go on field trips with us and I remember a time when she came to the school and taught something to the class. I don't remember what it was now, but what I do remember is how proud of her I always was. I thought Mom was the coolest, prettiest, and just all around most awesome Mom a kid could have. I remember our "special days" when Mom would spend time with each of us individually and how special those times were. Happy Mother's day!

I was always proud when mom would come to school too. I thought she was the prettiest mom. She always has the biggest laugh in the room and I love that. I love it when I am in the other room and all of a sudden I hear mom laughing.
Sometimes I will get a little tired of Scout or something and I will say something like, "Scout! I just need you to be quiet and give mom some space for five minutes!!" and then I will think, "I can't picture mom ever having said something like that to me". Then I get sad and remember to not say things like that, cause I remember how sad something like that would have made me. (Scout usually shrugs it off, so maybe I say stuff like that more then I realize and have acclimated her to such things.) Poor child. Love you mom.

Janie is awesome! Not only did I benefit so much from her love and great influence on me during my year actually in the Wright house, but all along the way before and since. Janie was even there to pick up the pieces in the Spoon house a time or two when Beverly couldn't, and somehow she always finessed those scary times in such a way that we all learned to pretty much just roll with things--and still laugh (you're right about it usually being the biggest laugh in the room!) and enjoy life. She also loved to tease me about how cocky I was (am?), and that has been . . . helpful. Thank you, Janie! Love and appreciate you so much. Happy Mother's Day (week, month)!

I've told this to her pretty recently, but she has always been one of the best people to have around during a crisis or scary time. She keeps a cool and level head when others would be panicking. I've seen her weather phone calls informing her of car accidents involving her children when she doesn't know how bad it is, calls that her kids are in the hospital, and every time she was calm and level headed. Who knows what she was feeling on the inside, but on the outside- she was a rock and helped me and those around her weather it too. That is an awesome trait.
Glad she was there for you guys when you needed her and helped you laugh and get through it. That's exactly what kid's need.

Nice comments all of you. I just showed this to mom when she came home for lunch at 1:40. She was very pleased and laughed a lot. You all make us proud.

I didn't spend any time on my computer yesterday, so I'm a bit late.

Special days with mom are one of my favorite memories too. I liked special days better than Christmas, cause it was like your own Christmas. Mom really made those fun. I also just remember her making every holiday a lot of fun. Always cookie making and decorating and things like that. Mom's sense of humor is the best. Here is a funny story about her sense of humor.

I was living at home and had a pet snake. Mom came in my room to wake me up and she was sitting on the side of my bed. She was looking at the snake and started talking about how boring life must be for a snake. She suggested we put some sort of background in the tank of snake pole dancing girls to make his life so exciting. She was laughing so hard, it was hilarious. I love people like mom who can make themselves laugh like that. I do it myself and it cracks me up.

Lots of good memories of mom. Glad to hear she had a good Mother's Day. She deserves it.

Oh yeah, she was also the best when you were sick and had to stay home from school. She was a great nurse who took really good care of you and made good snacks and things like that.

Ha ha, remember when we found out that she used to put butter and salt in our baby food? That was so cute and funny. She thought it was so bland, and that we'd like it better that way. Special days were the best and also any day she came to school. She used to let us pick out what she'd wear!
