It was Valentine's week, so I went Rom-Com on all of you! And even though this is a genre that I don't often like (at least as something more than mindless "cotton candy" entertainment), I have to admit this one is very enjoyable--and with some substance and commentary on life that has at least a little nutritional value. Will Smith stars, but Kevin James (as Albert) is the real heart and soul of the movie. Hilarious, lovable, and genuine as an accountant who is in love with Allegra, one of the most beautiful and rich women in the world (he is on the team that manages her money), and hires "Hitch" to help him get her to notice him and be exposed to someone who loves her and not just her fame and wealth. Will Smith and Eva Mendes are characters who are equally matched in smarts and wits, but also in how broken they are in heart matters even though they don't recognize that in themselves until near the end. There are some hilarious scenes (dancing, teaching Albert how to go in for the kiss, jet skiing date, allergic reaction and Benadryl drunkenness, the jerky stock broker getting what was coming to him, etc.), but mostly sweet ones (inhaler toss, Allegra being attracted to all of Albert's klutziness, final reconciliation scenes for both couples). Anyway, it's worth a watch (and/or re-watch).
I really thought this flick would have been a no-brainer, and that at least a couple of you would get it immediately from the first clue. Only one of you did, but not until Tuesday. That winner, and the guy running away with this contest, is George/Pops Wright. He is on fire! Haley had sent early signals that she knew she recognized this one, so I thought she'd win, but she didn't get it until the Wednesday clue arrived. Em also sent in a Wednesday guess--a pretty good one based on the clues, and also for a really good movie that should be picked down the road, so I won't say it here. Matt came in with the wright answer on Friday. And that was it! I'm shocked! For anyone who has ever seen this (and this is one I figured most of you would have seen), I thought both the Q-tip and "making the pizza" dancing moves and the Butcher of Cadiz lines would totally give it away.
Anyway, congrats George! Take it away...

Man I am forever stuck in 2nd place. Ugh! This really is a great movie. Lots of good laughs. My favorite scene by far is when Will Smith has a major food allergy reaction and is drinking benadryl with a straw. Haha! The inhaler toss is also great.
I have not seen this, so that explains it for me. Good job pops! You're a real force to be reckoned with.
Of course I am a force. Old, fat and grumpy, but some clues just fit and the first one did it for me but it took some time. The Wednesday clue still doesn't work for me. Can't picture it. But the movie I really liked and thought Ms Cole part was also good. It was the first thing I have ever seen Kevin James in and thought he was a real find.
I'll get working on a new movie. Come on yous guys and give me some competition .

The Wed clue is from the last couple of minutes of the film in which Hitch is talking through the door to Sarah and messing everything up for a while (because he doesn't have him behind the door to help out!). Finally he recovers and all eventually ends well (after he gets thrown from the car, of course).
