Sue's Picks

3 Stars!!

Cam and I saw the first one and pretty much thought it was hud sauce. We like Rob's doppelganger, Eric Bana, but it wasn't enough to make the first Hulk any good. We totally hated it. We decided to give the second one a try only because we are both huge Ed Norton fans. He is one of those very rare actors that I will see a movie just because he is in it. In fact, Hulk 2 has 3 actors that I like a lot in it. Ed Norton, Tim Roth and William Hurt. I didn't know Roth and Hurt were in it until I started watching it and I was a very happy Sue.

The story is pretty good, the nerdy scientist guy "Mr. Blue" is great, William Hurt was really good as the general, Tim Roth does a great job as always, and Ed Norton, what can I say? I love him. We liked the design of the Hulk a lot better than the first one, and there were some great scenes. Our favorite scene is when Tim Roth says to Hulk "Is that all you got?" and Hulk kicks him really hard and he smashes into a tree. We watched that scene 3 or 4 times. And of course Stan Lee makes his cameo as always.

So, if you hated the first one and weren't even going to give this one a chance, well I recommend you do give it a chance.

Is that the same as "The Incredible Hulk" that just came out a little while ago? Because that one sucked as well I thought. I'm so confused!

Cat said...

I'm confused too. I thought 'The Incredible Hulk' (the one with Ed Norton) was different from the other sucky Hulk movies. Maybe you have the wrong movie poster? A happy glorious November 5th to all.

Sue said...

This is the right movie poster. It's the same picture that is on my DVD at home. The Incredible Hulk and Hulk 2 are the same thing. If you enter them both into IMDB it comes up with the same movie. I've heard this is not considered a sequel to the first Hulk, more of a remake because the first one sucked so bad.

Cat said...

Oh, OK. That makes sense. I don't know why they would refer to it as Hulk 2 though if they wanted to depart from the first. But I think the second one looks good. My little family all wanted to see it. And upon your recommendation, we shall.

Sue said...

And yes, Haley, this is the Hulk that came out on DVD in the last week or so. If you didn't like it, well your opinion doesn't really count because you are pregnant, hee hee.

I think Booker will like it. It has some fun scenes.

Haley said...

No, it was fine. I just wasn't in the mood that night to get dragged to a movie theater and I have never been really intrigued by the Hulk story.I guess I also had a bias since the first one sucked so bad. So I thought that it would be just as bad, but it wasn't. I thought it was well done though and the acting was good. I just don't care for the subject. I liked that Liv Tyler was in it.

Haley said...

And by Cat's comment I'm taking a guess that she wanted Obama to win. Am I right? Or are you just in a good mood today?

Cat said...

I am in a good mood today! And yes, I'm very happy about our new president elect. I almost cried last night. I almost cried four years ago also, but for entirely different reasons!

You said it sista!

I never went to Hulk 2 because my head has been still ringing from watching Hulk 1 bounce from mountain to mountain in the first Hud Sauce. I admit Ed Norton was an enticement and I almost went but chickened out. I'll try to see it..

I've got to confess.... I'm happy too. I have a deep dislike for pretty much all politicians, but besides his fake laugh, I like him and I hope he does some good. I have some reservations, but had lots more with McCain. If the race had been between Obama and Romney, I would def. had gone with Romney (that guy is GOOD with finances and I think our country needs that very much), but since he dropped out, I have been an Obama person.
I know dad's head is either going to explode, or he shall disown the lot of us, but that's that.

Wow. The Utah peeps are Democrats? I should have guessed you rebels! I don't want to turn this blog into a political family feud, so I am just going to keep enjoying the entertainment reviews.
I want to see Hulk. Ed Norton is the man.

Excuse me! I am NOT a democrat!
I refuse to be associated with a political party. Both parties have stands on things I agree and disagree with, so I will not be lumped into one party and assumed I agree with every issue on their docket.

Only the first two sentences are aimed at you personally, Matt.

Haley said...

I'm the same way, but I tend to agree with Republicans.Go Romney in 2012! I was totally not a John McCain fan, but he was better than the other choice. I just don't trust him(Obama). I don't want this to turn into a feud political crap thing either but I just want to give my two cents. The biggest reason I don't support Obama is because of some moral issues. He didn't vote to overturn abortion and worse than that, partial-birth abortion. Everytime I think about someone doing that I want to puke and go cry for a few hours. It is just dispicable. But just changing the president over to a democrat isn't going to solve all of our problems. I hope that he does the best that he can do though, for all our sakes.

Cat said...

Moral issues! Aww, that's cute. I wish that's what kept me up at night instead of our economy in a scary horrible place and us in a war we have absolutely no right to be in. JUST MY TWO CENTS, K. America needed a drastic change from where it's been going these last 8 years. A record number of voter turn-out speaks volumes. We want a president who is a normal American. Not a priviledged, arrogant out of touch with reality old guy who if he dies or something in office...Sarah Palin...just to scary to even entertain that thought. Sorry, just had to say it.

Matt Wright said...

Whoa! Em, thanks for setting me straight. I just figured as much since you were for Obama. I agree though, I think we should elect the person we feel will do the best job for our country, whether Democrat or Republican or Republicrat or Democan.

Emily said...

Moral issues are one thing, but right now, I am pretty much just freaking out about the economical issues. But I totally understand why abortion would be such a huge factor for you right now Haley.
For me right now, the economy and our health care plans are a huge HUGE factor and problem in my personal life. I don't see that McCain would make much difference there, and we need one "lee" much.
Every factor about the war makes my head hurt.

Haley said...

Whoa Cat. I'm not saying that's the only thing that I'm worried about. Sheesh.

Haley said...

It is a scary world out there. It makes me worried about if we can get a job after school in a few years, and if we are going to get attacked again if we pull out all of our troops. It makes me worried to even bring a child into this corrupt world. I don't thing moral issues are a small thing. If everyone had them, we wouldn't have all these problems in the first place. They aren't just cute.

Haley said...

Haha. How did we get from Hulk to this discussion? Kyle and Simonne were just playing Sing Star Karaoke game and they were singing Sweet Home Alabama and that song talks about Neil Young like 3 times! Haha. I never noticed that before. And Kyle said that all of Lynyrd Skynryd died in a plane crash and I don't think that is true. Do any of you know?

Sue said...

Not all of Lynyrd Skynryd died in a plane crash, but 2 or 3 of them did.

So, I guess I missed some stuff! I'm not a democrat either, I'm registered as an independent. I hate the labels that are slapped on both parties.

One thing I do want to clear up is Obama's vote on banning abortion. He has stated it time and time again, if you paid attention to anything he said in the debates, you would have heard this. He only voted against banning partial birth abortion because there was no provision in the bill for the health of the mother. The bill he voted against banned it 100%, no if's and's or but's. So that means if the mother is going to die if the pregnancy goes on then that is just too bad. Let the child be born and raised without a mother.

Sue said...

I forgot to add, that he also said time and time again, that as soon as the bill does provide provisions for the health of the mother he will vote for it. He is not pro abortion. He and Biden both tried to explain that to McCain and Palin during the debates, but they both blew him off and he just shook his head and smiled. The right wing radio guys like to spin things like that because they know most people will just listen to them and not bother to look into it and get the facts straight.

B said...

I knew I hated Lynyrd Skynyrd for a reason. The original lead singer died, along with maybe a guitar player. The lead singer now is either his cousin or his brother, and there never was a more Confederate white trash band.

Emily said...

B, you hated Skynard because the trashed Neil? Hmmmm... Have we gotten ourselves a little fan? Have we made head way?

Sue said...

Yeah B, your comment doesn't make much sense. You hate Lynyrd Skynyrd because they hate Neil Young? hmmmm.

The new lead singer is the dead lead singer's brother who happened to be the lead singer for 38 Special, or maybe it was Night Ranger. I don't remember, one of the two.

When I was in Atlanta a couple of years ago we drove past a street named "Confederate Drive" it creeped me out.

B said...

No, I forgot the lyrics of the song. I thought they were praising him, and that would make me throw up. But I just read that other post you did, and now I dislike them even more. To bad they weren't better friends with Niel and he wasn't on the plane with Ronnie.

No headway. Zip, zilch, nada. I don't think I've even heard one of his songs in months. I've made a deal with Amy that I will watch 1 Nicolas Cage movie of her choice at some point, and since I don't want to be a hater, I will listen to one Niel Young song of your choice. But it has to be on an empty stomach. How's that for headway?

Sue said...

Amy spent the night at my house last night and told me about that! She and I discussed Nick Cage movies and decided Peggy Sue Got Married would be a good one for B to watch. What do you think Em and Cat?

Sue said...

And B, do you misspell Neil's name on purpose just to upset us?

Emily said...

*rubbing my hands together*
Ahhh, what will it be girls? "Birds" is very cute, she might actually like it IF LISTENED TO WITH AN OPEN MIND. Or, do we go the other route and do something like Powderfinger? "Pocahontas" is kind of charming, but I really don't think she would appreciate it (no offense B). "Down By the River" is my very favorite, but that is the Powderfinger route.

You actually want Neil to have died? Soul....tearing.......might....cry.

Amy is/was in Utah?

So many things to comment about!

One more:
I did hear Obama trying to tell about his voting on the abortion thing in the debates and not being able to. THAT RIGHT THERE is why I hate politics and politicians. I get that you are trying to get votes, but how can you believe anything when everyone is trying to smear and twist everything everyone says. It makes my brain hurt and gives me Tibetan cave moments. You just have to listen hard, then go with your gut and see what happens. No matter what happens, I figure that the crap and evilness that goes on around me, can go on. I have my little family and our daily lives will go on and our family unit will take whatever comes our way, your home is your shelter and you can bring into it whatever good or bad you choose, and you make your own choices. That may be disjointed and wierd, I just got home from a spin class and I am wired and tired.

Haley said...

That's exactly right Em. Haha you guys are so funny with all your Neil Young stuff! It cracks me up. Yes, my mom was in Utah last night and stayed with Sue and flew out to Branson, Missouri with her good friend. Her mom died about a month ago and they were going to take the trip together and her husband still wanted her to go on the trip so she invited my mom along.

Sue said...

Amy went on a last minute trip to Branson, MO with a friend of her's. She called me the other night and asked if she could stay here since she had never seen my house before and I live close to the airport. So she was here last night, and flew off this morning.

And thank you, Em, for qualifying my Obama statement! He did try to explain his position, but wasn't given a chance. It is really sad to me that most people just stick to their party and believe everything that is said against the other without even bothering to check if the facts are right. I'm sure our Founding Fathers would be proud!

When I first got to my mission field in Nov. 1957 and went to a distric meeting, the other elders were laughing at me and saying "Poor Elder Wright, you will never get home and find a wife and have kids. The end is coming before your two and a half years are up" I was depressed for months. Lesson: keep trying and live well and keep having your little babypoos.

I wish I rented Hulk2 instead of Jumper last night.

On Nicolas Cage: In my humble opinion Nick's best movies are: Raising Arizona, City of Angles, It Could happen to You, The Rock, Matchstick Men, Con Air. Con Air because John Malkovich is in it and he is the BEST! Peggy Sue got Married would be toward the end of the list, too sappy for me, but I am mostly an action guy and then a romanic.
