WTB, YAAAYYY!!!!

So... I was beginning to think that this was never going to happen. I'm am going to actually double my score!!!!! I don't even know what to do with myself!!!!!! Just kidding. I'm actually suffering from too little sleep and too much sugar and Nerts anxiety. That's why I didn't get around to it until late Sunday, Dan. We've just been having too darn much fun up here! But anyways, here is this weeks quote.

"Or, imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. [pauses] Hi. I'm in Delaware."

Liking the music, B, though not much on the Erykah Badu song. Had hardly heard of her until this past week or so with the controversy over her new video. Despite her strangeness (something I usually like), I'm not digging her music yet...

Wednesday hint:

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turns out I was just really bored.

Em is the one that gave me this Erykah Badu song. I think it's phenomenal. I love the old school vibe at the beginning, and then how it changes so that it's almost multiple songs in one.

I changed the playlist so that it will play on random now too... I've been frustrated in the past with not being able to just skip through everyone else's playlists, but after watching Em listen to the beginning of the Teddybears song about 20 times this morning, I figured it might be a good idea.

You should really give that song a chance Dan! It is awesome. Rob introduced me to her when we started dating, he's always been quite taken with her and sent me a disc while I was in New York filled with her songs (and D'Angelo) and this was a def. favorite of mine. I love the music (for reasons B said, I love her voice so much, and I love the lyrics very much) making it a triple threat. Do you dislike this style perhaps? Maybe it will grow on you.
I'm glad you like it B, that whole album is good (Mama's Gun). Haven't heard about the latest controversy Dan, think I'll look it up to see the beef. Surprised she hasn't fallen under your radar yet. Oh, she was Rose in The Cider House Rules- if you saw that. (If not, see it.) Read the book too- book is excellent.
Got to go, got crying babies.

"Silly me I thought your love was true, change my name to Silly E. Badu"

I'll work on giving her and this song another chance. I have the new Rolling Stone magazine with the Glee cast as the cover story, and it has a long piece on Badu in it that I may now read, too. Didn't know it was her in Cider House Rules. Excellent film--and the one with my favorite Tobey Maguire performance by a long shot. (Do I really like any/many others? I'd have to really think about that...)

The controversy is over Badu's video to a new song "Window Seat." The vid is a continuous shot of her walking through Dallas shedding pieces of her clothes as she walks along. Eventually she gets completely naked (pixelated to keep it PG-13) and then immediately gets shot along the side of the road right next to the white X showing where JFK was assasinated. The point of the video (song lyrics? I haven't checked) is that true art is often misunderstood and condemned by the masses.

I do dig her "Evolve" tattoo on her back.

Oh yeah I've heard of that video, I saw a clip of her on some talk show babbling on trying to explain that she wasn't being disrespectful to JFK because he was her "hero."

Watched it. Don't know how one could think she was being disrespectful after watching the video and listening to her speech at the end.
Guess I will have to read about the controversy so I can understand.

Friday hint...

Person 1: Well, that's all the time we had for our movie. We hope you found it entertaining, whimsical and yet relevant, with an underlying revisionist conceit that bullied the films emotional attachments to the subject matter.
Person 2: I just hoped you didn't think it sucked.

Hehe, W.V. is spown. Spoon got pwned. Or did he?

He most certainly did not.
